B : coffee w cream, and a few tastes of the carmelized apples & cream cheese filling I made for a snack for my stepson & some painters we have working today at the house.  I was inventing a recipe so I really had to try things to see if they were ok — I kept the tastes to a minimum but there was definitely more sugar consumed than usual for a week…

Green tea of the day : Mariage Frères thé vert Marco Polo

L : leftover mushroom soup, slice of quiche

Snack : cauliflower w dip, roasted nuts (see below)

D : Beef bourgignon, mâche salad, roasted brussel sprouts

Dessert : orange cream ice cream — not so good, I think I messed up while making the custard by letting the cream/egg mix boil… It’s edible but kind of gritty.

Cooking :

Carmelized apple & cream cheese dessert pizza (for the workers & my stepson, not for me)

Low carb ice cream, orange custard flavor — another experiment…

Roasted spiced nuts (first time I did this - yummy!).  Roasted green beans, & roasted brussel sprouts.

B : none.  I know, this needs to stop.

L : piece of quiche, immediately out of the oven.  Celery & dip

Green tea of the day : Red Blossom jasmine

D : PLANNED : leftover beef bourgignon, salad, artichoke, mushroom soup

D : ACTUAL : we went out to Montparnasse 25 because it’s going to close in a few months & we were out running errands. So even though it was an easy dinner to throw together we decided to eat out (and my DH wanted to do something nice for me).  I was pretty good.  Glass & a half of champagne, immediately refused the bread (and when you do that they take away your bread plate, so you can’t change your mind).  Had a lobster ravioli starter but didn’t eat most of the ravioli pasta part, lamb for main course (there were bread crumbs on the top, I ate them) and had cheese instead of dessert.  I could not, however, resist the petit fours tray and had 1 1/2 tuiles.  Why?  Because they were in front of me, and I usually eat them when I go to this restaurant, I have no other excuse…

B : tea w cream

L : at Liza’s, a really cool contemporary Lebanese place.  Had a salad of artichokes & peas (didn’t eat the peas) and grilled chicken w that creamy garlic sauce.  My mom’s food was better…  It’s hard to have good Lebanese food without carbs.

Snack : sunflower seeds, celery w dip

Green tea of the day : none. Was out too long in the day & then didn’t want to risk not sleeping….

Dinner : Beef bourgignon, painstakingly made over 3 days (Sunday : prepped onions & mushrooms, Monday : cooked onions, mushrooms & the beef bourgignon, Tuesday : reheated the beef part then added the onions/mushrooms for last hour of cooking).  One tablespoon mascarpone cheese w 6 raspberries.

B : Tea w cream, small Starbucks cappuccino

L : 3 leftover scallops, leftover roasted cauliflower, radishes w dip, sunflower seeds

Green tea of the day : Mariage Frères Thé vert Sahara

D : Out to dinner at Peyrassol, the truffle place.  Had truffle toast for starter (at my husband’s insistence) ate half the peice of bread.  It’s true it was delicious.  Main dish was eggs scrambled with truffles with shaved truffles over the top.  Very very good.  Not as good as the same dish at l’Ourcine, but very very good.  Truffles are amazing.
