Motivate May 4th, 2010It’s time to get Serious
A few posts back I mentioned that it seemed there were a lot of us talking about getting serious this Springtime. Several people chimed in that they wanted to join in, so I’m trying to figure out how we can help each other. You don’t need to be starting, or getting back on track — you can just want a bit of extra camaraderie for a few weeks.
How it will work
How about something simple, like making public goals for the week, and keeping ourselves accountable to how we do on our goals?
We’re all at different stages of our weight loss & our goals aren’t the same, so this way everyone can do what’s right for themselves, but we can all help cheer each other on & give a gentle nudge when necessary.
For myself, the period I’m focusing on is from now until the end of July (when I leave for summer vacation) but I’m thinking we should make it from now until July 4th just so we have a manageable period of weeks - that’s 9 weeks, and we should all be able to lose at least 5-10 pounds in that time (and some of you will lose twice that!).
Does that sound reasonable?

I definately want to be added. I added the info to the widget but on my journal it only shows a red x box in place of the picture. Any suggestions? I am word press as well. hmmm
Currently 188, goal is 1.5 pounds a week and if my math is correct, I am striving to be below the 175 mark by the 4th of July.

I’m in! I’m going to do the best I can the last 5 weeks of school and then hit it hard core once summer comes. I’m 235ish now, low 220’s is my goal by the 4th.

Sounds like fun. I’m in. I’m a slow loser, so I’m going for a goal of 5 pounds (and hoping for twice that :)). Thanks for setting this up.

Hummmm, does this mean I have to get on the scale to assess the damage of 1 1/2 months of naughtiness? :O
I’ll have to think of a reasonable goal I can reach without having to chop off an appendage to make it.

I’d love to join. I definitely need the support.
My goal is to lose 14 lbs by July 4th and to establish a regular exercise habit.
That will put me at 190 and give me the momentum to keep going thru my vacation to my dad’s the 1st week of August.
(Oh, and i’ve tried and tried but can’t get the graphic to show up.)

Ok. I got the image to work. Here’s how: On a hunch i noticed that there were double quotes around some parts of the link. I removed the second ” around all but the part that says “”_blank”" and it worked.

You know me, I love a challenge (ha!) but I have some big work-stuff coming up so I’ll catch the next one. But I will do my best to give support from the sidelines!

I have been thinking about this… a lot. I will probably join in if I can wrap my mind around the best goals. Thanks for setting this up and including us all. It is so much easier not to go it alone:)

Billie, thanks! It took me awhile to figure it out, but I did! I had to take out the slanty 2nd set in order for it to work. Such technical terms.

Popped over from Karen@WaistingTime. I’ll join in, too. I have been looking for the next challenge after my trip to Philly next week. This will be great.
I want to take off at least 15 pounds in 9 weeks and start transitioning off the products I am using to real foods.

Hi Sarah! I would love to join this challenge. Count me in… my focus is to really get back on board after my half marathon is over next Sunday. It’s really tough to lose weight (or maintain) and endurance train. I have been bouncing back and forth for awhile and I’d like to solidly get around 125-130 where I think I’ll be happy (and before my 10 year high school reunion in August.. UGH!)

2) I am eating a whole foods-based diet; I am feeling the healthy & energetic effects of eating well.
