A few days of ME time
Relax November 15th, 2008I have been pretty stressed and busy with work these past few months. It was helpful to pull me out of the ectopic-induced depression, but has kept me on the road and on the run with very little time for myself and frankly little motivation to take care of myself.
I will be starting a new chapter at work soon and at least for the next few weeks should have little travel and committments in the evenings, and therefore few excuses to not cook and exercise. I feel like the fact that my busy period ending this past Thursday was a clear signal from the universe to get back home and focus on myself for a few days, as my DH is traveling until Tuesday so I have a free weekend. I had no food in the house due to our travels and work the past few weeks, so yesterday I stocked up on veggies and am considering the weekend a time to get some good habits back in place.
Yesterday I cooked a fabulous white chili with cauliflower (vegetarian and very low cal) and ate very lightly all day. My plan is to eat in a similar way until Tuesday and start to get some exercise, and be somewhat back in the swing of things by the time hubby gets home.
I was able to get some shopping done in London during my trip and so have enough Fat clothes to make it for a few months without the horror of shopping here in Paris. Jeans that fit, comfy black pants and a few work items, in all, enough to tide me over.
Thanks for the comments - all help nudge me back on track!

Do you happen to have the white chili recipe? It sounds wonderful! I’m in WI, and always looking for soup recipes:)

Life goes in cycles, and the trick over the long term is to have fewer lows than highs…at least that is my aim, can’t say I have it figured out yet.
Still have a bunch of beets in the fridge but now am afraid of them!…lol

In answer to Sandi’s question, here is the link to the recipe I used (from a fellow 3FC blogger)

There’s nothin like me time… it really is a great thing. Good job on gettin’ something that fits!
It’s bad enough to be plump without being uncomfortable in our clothes.
yes… sounds like better days are here….
GREAT JOB!

I thought I had seen the recipe before but was forgetting where. That was fun to see it linked here. I’m gonna add it to my shopping list now. I wonder what my DH will think of it. He does like cauliflower and he loves chili but can the two live in peaceful harmony!? We’ll see. Thanks for sharing!
I just came across your blog after seeing your post on mine. I’ll be back to catch up on some reading sometime. It’s very interesting the the traveling you do. What a challenge it is to keep up with food and exercise this way. I only make it outside of town for a day and I’m stuck in a rut eating the old ‘picnic and traveling’ foods when I do.
Thanks for your comment/advice. So many things to consider and quite a quest to figure out what works for me.
Enjoy your ME time. It’s great to be free from obligations, distractions and enablers! My DH is making it harder for me lately; his days off from work end up being the days I eat the most junk.

I enjoy your blog and appreciate your honesty about your struggles. I hope that I am brave enough to do the same. And yes, I agree, I think God (the universe) is at work here. Bon chance to us all!

I’m glad to hear your work schedule is taking a turn for the better. That should be a great de-stressor. That chili sounds delish.
