Up One…
Motivate May 5th, 2008Well, the trip to London was not without its price - I’m up one pound this morning.
I’m not too surprised - walking all over the place can only partially offset 2 servings of gelato, toffee pudding, smoothies and all the other yummy but caloric fare we took in over the past few days. But the walking was good for my heart, my legs, and my spirit.
In general our meals were reasonable but certainly not dieting, but most of the the breakfast choices were reasonable. It’s probably the number of “square” meals and all the snacks did me in
Although I had hoped to maintain this week (knowing losing was asking too much) I actually consider the week a success, because I was doing well before heading to London, and in London I did make several good choices (even if I made several bad ones too). But mostly because I started on this weight-loss path again even though I knew I had this weekend coming up. And since I had really toyed with the idea of “starting” after the trip, I am so glad that I started beforehand, so the one pound gain is actually a non-event. Had I chosen to keep putting off getting serious again, I probably would have gained at least another 5 pounds in the past few weeks, having my “last” of many many treats…
As for the pound, I’m not too worried about it - I have 3 normal days before we’re off for another long weekend, but the coming weekend should be more reasonable (staying in France but going away w friends).

Good for you! It’s really easy to procrastinate while we look for the “perfect” time to start. Of course, it never happens. The best we can do is take the day we have and work with it to the best of our abilities. My back is much better today, thanks for asking. Don’t know why it hurt so bad yesterday. I’m going to assume it was just a one day thing and get back to working out today!

Great job, I think your attitude is healthy and is perfect for the long haul, which is just SO important! It’s so interesting reading about what it is like living in France, you bring up things I never even thought about!

It sounds like the weekend was worth the pound. Sounds like you had a fantastic trip. Welcome home and back on track!

Jolly good. I was thinking of you when I saw our school prom flyers/posters. They have a drawing of the eiffel tour on them. No idea why, but it made me want to go to Paris. Watching the new version of Sabrina with my class - and her stint with Vogue Paris didn’t help. Can you be homesick for a city you do not live in??
Gaining only one pound in London is a good thing!
next time try the Marks and Spencers bras. I really like them and they are very reasonably priced.

To only gain one pound while away, that is a success! Good for you.

I agree! You had a good time & like Patty says, you didn’t do what I’ve done a million times and say, “well, I can’t possibly start eating right until after [insert any possible excuse I can come up with, including vacation, exams, a work project, the weekend, an evening out with friends, my birthday, my husband's birthday, Queen Elizabeth's birthday, Earthday, Arbor Day, Memorial Day, summer, fall, winter, spring, this cookie, that cake, this pasta dinner...]
In short, you done good!

What a great feeling to know that you didn’t put it off, that you got started even when you knew there would be obstacles in your way. The one pound gain is a non-issue, you’re right. Think of where you would be right now if you had decided to wait.

I like tiny2b’s take on things - I agree. And also that you only gained 1lb is pretty darn good!
