Mindful
Plan January 14th, 2008Mindful is my key word for the week. Eating Mindfully. Meaning - pay attention, think-while-you-eat. Remember you’re eating with the intention to LOSE weight.
Mindful of moving my body around a bit more than I have been. Walking 3 times would be nice but I’ll take 2 if I have to, it would still be an improvement.
Mindful in mindset too. Keeping a picture in my mind’s eye of what I’m trying to accomplish and what life will be like to get there and once I am at the goals.
Today’s mindful push was on to the scale. Yes, boys and girls, it’s that time again… After months of scale-free living I decided to go back to the little square on a more regular basis, but I am still doing my best to not let the scale rule my life. So every 2 weeks seems like a good timeframe - far apart enough to see even small progress, close enough to avoid any major detours, and spaced so as not to drive me crazy. I decided to do the weigh-ins on Monday mornings because that time slot has always helped keep me focused over the weekend.
The scale showed 197, which is a 2 pound loss from two weeks ago. I’m quite pleased, I would take this as success for one month, not just 2 weeks.
Slow and steady, as they say.

Go Round, it’s your birthday, we’re gonna party like it’s your -
Actually, no, make that “we’re gonna party like you’ve lost two pounds”.
And by “quite pleased” I hope you mean “getting ready to do a crazy happy dance in my front yard so all the neighbors can see”, because 2 lb down in 2 weeks is definitely cause for celebration.
You go, fellow curvy girl.

Yay!!! 2 pounds…I think these losses sneak up on us when we’re not looking. And I’m a BIG fan of mindfulness in life in general.
Enjoy your present.
“Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. And today? Today is a gift. That’s why we call it the present.”

I’m with you sista…we need to be more mindful of what we take into our bodies…and mindful of what we watch so we don’t go overboard and fix desserts just because Paula Deen makes them …(that is a kick in my own rear end).

Good morning! Congrats on your 2 pound weight loss! I really enjoyed the comments you left on my post, seems like you and i are working towards our goal in similar ways, slow and steady and trying to control the scale obsession. I wanted to know the titles and authors of the books you read on healthy eating.
May strenght and courage continue to accompany you on your journey.

Well done! You are making great progress, especially with the mindfulness aspect, which i think is the hardest part but the most important one too. Slow and steady is the best way

Congrats on the two pounds!! I’m with you on the mindful eating. I was just thinking about that this morning, that often I’ve reached for another whatever, not because I’m hungry, but because IT’S THERE. Put a bowl of something I don’t even particularly like — pretzels, cocktail nuts, like, I mean, it’s not CHOCOLATE — and I’ll eat it. Take it away and I won’t miss it. And it’s so stupid. So yes, thinking about it (second-cousin to planning) should help.

Congratulations! Sounds like you have a good plan going, too. Must be working if the scale is dropping. Keep up the good work!

Congratulations on the loss, and on two other important life changes: a focus on mindfulness & an appreciation for accomplishments of all sizes (two walks instead of three *is* better than none — I agree!)

Congratulations on the 2lb loss! and a big thank you for the well wishes you gave me.

Congrats on the loss! I like the idea of the 2 week weigh in. Some people become too obsessed with that number. Two weeks won’t turn you into one of them. So, good luck!!!

Thanks for your post on mindfulness and for your comments to me. Kudos on the two lbs!

Mindful walking is my big monster to wrestle right now, but I know it’s going to be my purring kitten in my lap again one day soon. The more I walk, the better I feel. It makes for a better metabolism, and the baseline fitness develops inconsequential to fat that’s there. I always feel great, even self righteous when I get home. You too? Besides, walking is the only thing that doesn’t require money, and is truly one of our best Free resources !

“Mindful” is so great! Keep it going!

Wow, two pounds! You must be so proud. You are really losing weight faster once you are setting your mind to it. It’s like you cannot be moved to eat something! You are strong! You are impenetrable! Your mind is like a big iron wall, and no cake shall permeate it! Keep rockin’ it out. =)

Go you! I agree with hermit about walking! I drag my feet about it but when I just get right down to it I am always so glad that I did! Keep up the good work and thanks for your comments on my blog!
