Challenges, Food November 24th, 2007I don’t know why, but I went a bit nuts last night at dinner. I was more hungry all day than usual, and despite a snack of yogurt, walnuts and fruit I still was really hungry at dinnertime.
My DH bought takeout Greek food - not my absolute favorite, but it’s all fairly high calorie. And we had a fresh baguette and really good butter, and I ended up eating pretty much as I did before I started 3 weeks ago. Aside from our weekend in Cognac (where I was intentionally not dieting) it’s the first real slip-up. Needless to say, I also had dessert (although luckily it wasn’t that good so I didn’t go overboard).
Well, I’m back at it today. The past is the past whether it was last night or last year, it’s over & I’m just moving on.

i have days like that. it seems no matter what i eat im still hungry. tommarow is always a new day! i have learned that you cant change what you ate the day before so dwelling on it or “punishing” yourself is no good. i stay on my diet alot better when i have that mindset. used to, if i ate alot the day before i would not let myself have much food. needless to say that didnt work! haha

Ya know, the day I splurged at the restaurant, I was down in weight the next day. Sometimes a high calorie day convinces your body you are not “dieting” and it helps some. I think the real trick is to make those days less and less. Once in awhile causes no damage but when they are most every day is when we get in trouble.

Hello there, round! Thanks for visiting my blog recently and leaving such a sweet comment
I am absolutely with you on the succumbing to the siren call of tasty food, but you can do this! You’re right on with just getting back on track… Life happens, and sometimes we have those monster hungry days. As long as you average out eating less calories than you can burn, you’ll be fine.
You’ve helped inspire me to get back on track myself: I am restarting Weight Watchers today, going back to my old standard that helped me in the past. Thank you!
p.s. I am VERY impressed that you are in the land of Food & Wine Nirvana, France, and losing weight. Serious kudos to you!

I really think that we need those days when we go a bit overbaord to remind us of why we are dieting. And to keep us sane. You just need to remember to stay positive and when you do go a bit overboard, just dont continue to do it. I think that is probably what got most of us to where we are today, the whole ” I am already eating bad, so what is the harm of a little bit more?” … And guess what! It hurts us even more! It is a good thing that you recognized it and are back on track today!!!
