First Day

It’s the first full day of the kids summer break and it went OK.  Spent the morning straightening the house and went to the grocery to pick up a few things.  DD has 4 friends over now to celebrate her birthday.  She will be 15 on Monday.  Where has the time gone?  I can’t believe it.  She will be off to college in 3 years, but I’m sure it will seem much shorter than that.

We went to the pool again today.  Wasn’t sure we’d be there very long because it appeared a storm might be approaching, but it passed without a drop from the sky, and then the sun came out.   It was warmer today, but the water was still freezing cold.  It was actually 76 degrees in the water.  Too cold for me to get in, but the kids said it didn’t seem as cold as yesterday.  Got a bit of a compliment I think from another mom there.  She said she didn’t realize I had an older daughter, and when I told her she was 15, she said I didn’t look old enough to have a daughter that old.  I was pretty young when I had her, just a few weeks away from 21.  Definitely younger than the average first time mom today.  Anyway, that made me feel pretty good.

I didn’t eat much at all  this morning and this afternoon.  Didn’t even eat anything until lunch time, and then had a bowl of cereal.  Had a granola bar later in the afternoon.  It’s good I ate so light early, because we had pizza for dinner and cake for dessert.  I limited myself to 4 slices, and didn’t even it all of them.  I left a lot of crust, because I can’t stand to eat it if there isn’t any cheese on top.  So, I’m sure that saved a few calories.  DH brought home some new doritos. It’s a mystery flavor.  The rep told them what it was when he delivered it.  I don’t think I ever would have guessed what it was.  I ate a few, and had some cherry twizzler bites.  I was a bit over with my points, but that’s OK because I had a lot of my flex points left still.  I will need to watch what I eat the rest of this weekend and make wise choices, though.  I’m sure we will have cake again on Monday for her actual bday too.
