Happy New Year!

Is it really 2008 already?!  Another Christmas and New Year has come and gone.  I’m not where I wanted to be in my weight loss goal, but I’m better off than I would have been had I not joined WW the beginning of Nov.  I got on the scale today and trying to account for the difference between my scale and the ww scale, I think I’m about 3 or 4 lbs heavier than my last weigh in which was 2 weeks ago, because I did not go to a meeting last week.  While I’m disappointed in myself for this, if I had not been doing ww I would have probably been about 212 now instead of about 208 now.  I had lost 12 lbs. before the christmas holiday hit full force with all kinds of cookies and goodies.  I am weak.  I did so good at Thanksgiving, and I was thinking today that’s probably because it was only 1 day.  We had thanksgiving with dh family and that was it.  With Christmas it seemed to go on for a whole week.  We had dinner with dh family on christmas eve, then christmas in our house christmas day.  My family came to town the Friday after Christmas and we had another celebration.  Then, we celebrated ds 1 birthday over the weekend too, followed quickly by new years eve.  It’s been nonstop celebration for almost a week now!

Today has been my best day food wise in a while.  I was a few points over, but that’s mostly because we went out to eat because it was ds1’s actual birthday.  He chose to go to Red Robin.  I ordered chicken tortilla soup and a bbq chicken wrap.  It was really good.  Hopefully now that the holiday is past, I can continue to get back on track, and quickly lose the lbs gained, and continue in a downward trend toward my goal.

I’ve been thinking a bit about what I’d might like to do in 2008.  I’ve never been much of a planner or goal setter, but doing WW has made me realize how planning ahead can really help.  I’ve tossed some ideas around, but not written anything down.  I want to do this sometime soon.  The kids go back to school Thursday, so I’m hoping I can set aside some quiet time to do it later this week.

The holidays can really wreak havok on all of us - don’t worry, those extra pounds will be gone soon. I think you did great joining WW in Nov & keeping the holidays under moderate control.

I know what you mean about the goal setting - I never did it much for a long long time but once I started in 2001 it really changed my life in so many ways that I’ve kept it up (with varying levels of intensity). This year I was able to spend some real time thinking about it because I was off work for a few days (details of what I did in my blog).

    Happy new year!
