Oh, my. I don’t think I’ll ever finish this diet thing. It really is something you have to commit to for life. It will never be easy for me to get and stay thin. I’ve really thrown most of my progress right out the door. Scale yesterday said 193. I know what to do, I just need to do it and stick to it! I’m going right now to clean out the pantry and fridge of all that I know I can’t deal with at this time. No temptations in the house for the time being.
It’s been a while!

7 months since I’ve come here to write in the blog! Haven’t done much to help my weight loss situation since then either. I quit weight watchers, then rejoined a couple of months later, only to quit again after 2 months. I just wasn’t going to the meetings regularly or even following the program so I decided to quit wasting the money. My weight has been slowly creeping back upward. I look back in my older entries and the last weight mentioned was 174. I’m about 10 lbs higher now. It was right after Halloween about 2 years ago when I first joined WW. I lost about 30 lbs before losing focus and maintaining for a bit before the slow gain. It’s time to get serious again. My eating has been terrible for a while now. Need to turn that around. I’ve been doing scattered work outs. I started the couch to 5k training program, and just did week2 day 3. I hope to continue this to the end. I’ve started it a couple of different times, only to stop after 3 or 4 weeks. I want to make it through the whole program this time. I’m hoping having a treadmill now will make it easier because I remember the weather was a big factor in not finishing the other times I tried it. I’m going to pull out my WW material and start that again too. Not going to join meetings, just follow it on my own at home. I want to drop another 20-30 lbs. I know I can do it cause I’ve done it in the past, I just have to sharpen my focus and do the work!!!
Monday

It’s Monday. Temp. was in the 30s this morning. It’s been raining since yesterday afternoon. Need I say more? Had trouble waking up this morning. I just wanted to stay in my warm bed! I lost count of how many times I hit snooze. Luckily the boys don’t catch the bus until 8:45. Got up a little before 8 and they were up but of course not ready for school. Hustled them to eat and get dressed and back packs together. I think the rain may have finally stopped. Thank goodness! I dried the window and sill around where it has been coming in dds room. A builder rep came and looked at it today. Said he thought it looked a bit bowed. They may have to replace it. Someone else is coming out tomorrow afternoon. In the meantime dd slept downstairs in our guest room again. She can’t sleep in her bedroom b/c we had to pull the blinds up to keep the water from dripping all over them and her bed is right by the window. She sent me a text earlier saying she could just move into the guest room. She’d have her own mini apartment down there! They better get that window fixed before she gets too comfortable down there:)
I blew it this weekend. Too many jelly beans and pb eggs. My dh is learning though, I went into the pantry earlier looking for the leftover candy and it was gone. He must have taken it too work with him. Isn’t it funny how it only takes a few bad choices to start an avalanche of bad choices? After yesterday’s candy binge. I’ve been scouring the pantry just looking for something to put in my mouth. I grabbed a poptart (dh buys them not me!) a little while ago and started eating it. I took 2 bites and thought. What are you doing? Stop it now!!!!!! I threw the rest of the poptart in a bowl of soapy water soaking in the sink. Time to get back on track. Here’s what I need to do this week to be successful:
1)Plan meals for the week.
2)Track my food (points) intake.
3)Move! I have no excuse for not exercising even with the rain. I have a new treadmill, and 2 new wii games that make it fun! - Or at least not feel like torture;)
It looks so simple when you put in down on paper (or computer screen) like that!
I never did go to a ww meeting last week. Skipped this morning because I knew the weigh in would be bad. My goal is to go on Fri morning because that is when the leader I like has meetings that are compatible with my schedule
It looking brighter…

We had an extremely blustery evening and sheets of rain. Had the rain pouring down the INSIDE of dd’s bedroom window. UUUGGGHHH! It’s a problem we’ve had since we moved in here. At first it was just a drip or small trickle, and the builder has been out several times trying to fix it. The past 2 times it has gotten worse! At least it only happens when we get pouring rain and a wind blowing it from the west, which is directly toward her window. Thankfully, the raind has stopped and the sun is trying to shine through the clouds now! Waiting to hear back from them as to what they are going to do, but I’m thinking they may not be in the office today. DD stayed in our guest room in the basement last night. She could probably get use to that real quick. It’s like having your own mini apartment!
My treadmill was delivered this morning! I can’t wait to try it out. Will have to wait until dh can put it together. Hopefully it won’t be too difficult. Dh is pretty handy with things like that.
I was bad and did not go to my ww meeting on monday. I knew the scale wasn’t going to show a change and wasn’t willing to face the disappointment. I also have not been tracking what i’ve been eating for the past week and a half. Will i ever learn? Was going to go this morning, but then when they called yesterday afternoon and said they could deliver the treadmill today, I couldn’t. I really didn’t expect to get it before about the middle of next week. Now I’m waiting for the ifit cards that came with the extended warranty to arrive. they are coming ups and it said in tracking, that they are out for delivery.
I need to go now and pick up a few things for Easter Sunday. We’re having family over Sun eve. Was hoping to do this early this morning too, but instead stayed home to wait for my treadmill. Also need to go pick up an equipment mat for under the treadmill.
Spring are you ever going to come?

Our weather has just been ridiculous! Temps got down into the 20s last night, and have only been going into the 30s for a high the past few days. That’s January weather, not almost mid april! At least it looks like things are going to warm up now, to about 50 today. Hopefully we have finally seen the last of winter temps! I do see signs of spring- green grass and buds on our trees and bushes. Hopefully it didn’t get cold enough last night to hurt any of them.
So, heard from Nordictrack that my treadmill has shipped. Just waiting for a call from the freight company to schedule delivery. Rep said it would probably be early next week. I’m a bit nervous now that it’s been a few days. Looking at reviews of any type of treadmill, people either love it or hate it. They have no probs or nothing but probs with it. That’s probably one of the reasons it took me over 2 years to finally buy one. I did upgrade to an extended warranty just for peace of mind.
Took a day off from exercise yesterday. My lower back muscles as well as my thighs and glutes were a bit sore. Got right back to it this morning though. Did 30 min. of Wii My fitness, lower body, then did a wii golds gym cardio prepared workout for about 30 min.
Have to take yongest son to the dentist this afternoon. I called because he has a tooth coming in over the top of his baby tooth. He had the same thing about a year ago with another tooth and the dentist “helped” it out. I guess his baby teeth just have really strong roots and don’t want to come out!
Going to make a menu plan for the rest of the week then go to the grocery and pick up what I’ll need. Hopefully get that all done before I have to pick up ds from school to go to the dentist.
Staying the Same
Posted renewme on April 5th, 2009 | Filed under General | Comment now »
At last weeks meeting, I was actually up .4 lbs. I could be all bummed because I GAINED! But I think I’ll call it staying the same, because in reality I may have been able to get off the scale and step back on and it could have read the same as the week before. .4 lbs is really nothing in the grand scheme of it all. Of course if it was -.4 that would be a different story!;) So, I was bad and didn’t track any food last week. I know I was over my points. I indulged a few times on things I shouldn’t have. Tomorrow is a new day and a new week. Back to tracking. I know that is the key. That along with getting moving. I actually did some exercise this past week for the first time in a few weeks.
I bought 2 new games for the wii. My personal trainer and Gold’s Gym Cardio workout. My personal trainer is pretty good. It give you a fitness test and then bases workouts on your fitness level. The first couple of workouts were pretty easy, but it asks you how you feel after each segment, and you can answer no sweat, I was working hard, or I was about to die or something like that. I can’t remember the last phrase! THis morning’s workout was more challenging. You can choose from different workouts like yoga, cardio, upper and lower body, core. You can also tell it what workout equipment you have at home to work with, like an exercise ball, step or handweights and it will incorporate that into you workout. I see it as a good workout option for the time being. The other, Gold’s Gym Cardio workout I LOOOOOVE! It is so much fun. The title is a bit misleading. It should have been called cardio boxing cause that’s pretty much what it is. It is balance board compatible, but the exercises it has are very similar to a few on the wii fit and I didn’t really enjoy them at all. You do not have to have the balance board for the majority of the game options. I love boxing on wii sports, and I think this is even more fun.
I also finally took the plunge and I ordered a treadmill. It only took me about 2 years of looking off and on! I decided on a nordictrack vision 3600. Ordered it online through nordicktrack. It has a 7 in. tv, which wasn’t necessarily a feature I was looking for, but for the price, and after comparing it to to others without the tv. the other features such as motor and belt etc. this one for the price seemed like a much better deal. Plus it had free shipping. Hopefully it won’t be too long until delivery. It also has ifit which I think will help me stay motivated.
Between my new wii games and my soon to be here treadmill I think I’ll have plenty to keep me from getting bored with my exercise for a while. It will at least take away a lot of my excuses!
Damp and Chilly Morning

Everytime we get the 70 temps it gets harder to go back to the 40’s! I’m just cold today! It’s cloudy and rainy. Woke about 3 am to thunderstorms. I got up to check the tv and see if anything more severe was around. All seemed ok so I went back to bed. It was just about a year ago that we had a tornado go through in the middle of the night that damaged homes just about a mile south and a mile east of us. We did not go in our basement then, just thought it was a bad thunderstorm, but had i known how close something like that was we would have been there. I’m a bit more cautious now……
I got on my home scale this morning and i believe I’m down a little more than I was at the meeting yesterday! I had a feeling I would be because it is that time of the month and believe I’ve been retaining some water. If I stay on track this week then I’ll definitely see another good loss at the ww meeting next week.
Another Good Weigh in!

I made it through the weekend without undoing my previous weeks progress!! Was -1.4 lbs this morning, bringing me to an even 174 for a total weight loss of 34.8. That’s only .4 away from my lowest point back in Dec. so hopefully next week will take me below that and I will start seeing what I’d consider a truer progress instead of just trying to get back to where I was before I went way off plan for a while and gained.
KNowing I’d be facing a lot of temptation this past weekend, I’d saved almost all of my WPA for our trip back home and that seemed to work really well. I was able to enjoy some things like cake and dessert a bit. I still had to really struggle not to lose control at times though. My mom had 3 boxes of girl scout cookies sitting there when we arrived. I was “good” though an only had 2 one day and 2 the next. It helped that there were so many people around that they didn’t stay around too long! I was diligent to track everything I ate and it payed off with a loss on the scale this morning. I also drank tons of water and chewed gum to keep myself from grazing on the junk that was around. So I proved to myself that I can do it even when away from home!
Manic Monday

Wow things sure are busier with the kids home. Was not home much today, busy running kids around. Took older ds to eye doctor for routine exam. His prescription changed so we need to buy new glasses. It didn’t take as long as I thought at the dr, so I had time to bring him home then go to a ww meeting after all. Glad I did because I was -2.6! Yeah! That’s the biggest loss I’ve had in awhile. Put it into my online weight tracker and it warned me not too lose too fast! I know it’s preset to say certain things like that, but come on! Don’t rain on my parade!
Came back home and then took ds’s out to run errands, like find glasses. Got a notice from the school about Target giving out free glasses and when we got there was told it ended early (it was supposed to run until sometime in April! I guess they had an overwhelming response. So we looked around and went a few other places getting an idea of what was out and prices. Our ins. doesn’t cover the cost of eyeglasses so we foot the whole bill. We can go certain places and receive “discounts” but that’s really a joke because stores often have promotions that are cheaper than we can get it with the “discount.
Youngest ds had money that was burning a hole in his pocket and after looking several places for a captain rex starwars figure and not finding it he ended up buying some little lego set. He wanted one more expensive but meanie that i am would not pay the difference from what he actually had. I think he’s already forgotten about what he got and then tomorrow he’s going to want something else even more expensive but won’t have any money left. Oh well, it’s his allowance, better for him to learn things now on the little things than wait until he’s much older and doing it with bigger things. At least I hope…..
Focusing on very clean eating for the next few days. I’m hoping not to use any of my WPA until later this week when we are in hometown visiting with family. Hopefully this will help things go smoother when I have less control over what is on the menu. That, and getting in some extra activity because the weather is supposed to be beautiful for the next few days!
Sunday

I think I did well this week. Went out to dinner with dh on friday to Red Robin I chose the chicken ensenda? or something like that. It was good, and not to terrible point wise since I didn’t eat hardly any of the sauce and did that came with it. May have overdone it a bit at dinner tonight on the potato salad, but that’s ok cause I didn’t eat much at lunch time. Was teaching sunday school, and my helper, who I hadn’t seen in awhile commented that I looked good and had I been dieting and losing weight! It’s a bit embarrasing, but also encouraging to me when people comment. So I thanked him and told him yes, I’d been doing weight watchers.
We registered youngest ds to play baseball a few weeks ago and we took him to get some new gear today. He is so excited. We bought cletes, a new glove, and some batting gloves. He’s so funny. He played catch with dh when we got home while they cooked out on the grill. Then a while later he was trying to get someone else to play with him. He talked my 15 year old daughter into playing catch with him! She has never played baseball or softball. They played for about 30 min then he tried to get dh to go back out and play some more! ” I really need to practice my catching” he said! I think he will really enjoy it. He’s always like to play in the backyard but protested whenever we talked about playing on a team. This year we finally said, your going to do it. At first he was all pouty, then he realized that all the gear he had was getting to small and it would mean getting all new stuff and he’s been excited ever since. Now we are just waiting to get a call from a coach to let us know when the fun really begins.
I’m not sure if I can make it to a ww meeting tomorrow. Kids are on spring break all week, and ds has an eye exam scheduled for the morning. I’m thinking if the timing doesn’t work out I can make it Tuesday morning though. I’m hoping and really think I will see a loss this week. The past few and the next few days are supposed to be beautiful with temps 60-70! I can’t wait! Going to try to do some fun outdoor things with the kids since they are home. What exactly I’m not sure, but we’ll figure it out. Will most definitely include some catch with youngest ds:)
