Only time thin…… January 7, 2009

I was writing to a group of friends today, actually asking for pray support during this battle journey, when I realized something.

The only time I was at a healthy weight since I was 9 years old (thats 34 years folks!)….anyway they only time I was thin was when I was 18 and 19.  And I was drinking like a fish.

I found that very profound, a little scarey, and a reminder on why I rarely drink now.

A NOT post

I did NOT weigh myself every day this week so far

And while NOT doing that I did NOT see a couple pounds off in just 3 days

I did NOT eat peanut butter every day for the last 4 days after not having it around for several months

I did NOT justify the measured quantity of PB for the sake of protien

I did NOT look up recipes for oriental chicken type recipes that call for Peanut Butter

I did NOT dream about a hair brush shaped Recee’s peanut butter cup…….seriously, cause if I had done that I would seriously wonder about my sanity!

I did NOT give thanks that hubby works out of town and he has to leave Monday morning, and I did not swear under my breath when Hubby called and said he was sick and coming back home that afternoon.

I did NOT jump up and down when he left for out of town again this morning at 4 freaking-dark-o’clock

Just a quick post to say I am going to post!  HA

I am staying on plan, tracking everything, and doing well……….day one of the detox 7 day plan has started, half way through, already tempted with fast food, and with chocolate cake, I opted for the Applebees chili-lime chicken salad, 250 cals

SO if you ask many people “what is your biggest challenge for weight loss?”  They would typically say things like;  cutting back on portions, cutting out fast food, getting rid of the chips etc, too many carbs, too much fat, etc…..right?

For me it is so different.  It is such a challenge for me to eat in the morning, and even at lunch.  About 10am I get a little hungry, but a cup of coffee takes care of that usually.  Then I eat dinner at 6pm-7pm, and rarely have a snack.  BOY the damage I have done to my system!  When I eat like that I dont lose ANYTHING, it is a way of life for me and has been for many years.

So my challenge is eating 3 meals a day and 1-2 snacks.  Today I am doing well,  I had half a cup of yougurt with a third cup of honey bunches of oats ontop.  Not alot, but as much as I can handle right now.  I had a snack of 2 pieces of whole grain toast and some JIF reduced fat PB, around 10:30.  And I packed a lunch too……….so far so good!

Great Pasta dish

Whole wheat spaghetti, or any pasta shapes

Sautee onion in some EVOO, (I used 1 small) when about half done I added 4 cloves of garlic chopped, and 1 tsp red pepper flakes, cook a couple minutes.  Add 1 pound of raw shrimp, shelled and deveined, and some kilbasa (can omit if you like–I used hot kilbasa)  Cook until the shrimp is done and kilbasa starting to brown.  Dump in one can of tomatoes (I used whole toms, large can, and squished them up) add all the liquid with it.  Season with salt and pepper. I also added frz brocoli, but would be excellent with fresh spinach, Toss in your cooked pasta and let absorbe the liquid.  YUMMY!  Cals and portion is all dependant upon your ingrediants, but mine turned out to be a nice sized portion for 380 calories!
