Today’s Totals - June 14th, 2009

So here’s the amusing thing for the evening. I went upstairs to take the pork out to the fridge. Just to make sure neither of the cats ducked out I turned on the dining room light. Gus is sleeping in the cat carrier that he went to the vet’s in. Yes, the one he screams any time he’s actually placed in it.  The idea was to leave them out so when we have to take them back for their annual check-ups that they won’t know anything is different. So they’re tucked in a corner of the dining room. Silly boy thought it would be a good place to sleep (I left a towel in it). It’s too bad his brother doesn’t think the same thing. It’s always a massive struggle to get Shadow into the carrier for the vet visit.

Other than that, nothing really to add. We did go and have a swim before dinner. Just before dinner it rained briefly and now there’s quite a bit of lightening going on (although no actual rain). So I’m off to bed soon.

Strength Training - June 14th, 2009

Definitely didn’t feel like doing this today, but did it anyway. I started with a 5-min warm-up outside, followed by the usual warm-ups. Then I did:

A1: Front Squat - 70t/12, 70t/12, 70t/12
A2: Bent-over Row - 70t/12, 70t/12, 70t/12
B1: Supine Hip Extension with Leg Curl - 12, 12, 12
B2: Barbell Push Press - 65t/12, 65t/12, 65t/10 :(
C1: Dynamic Lunge - 30e/12, 30e/12, 30e/12
C2: Upper Body Russian Twist - 12, 12, 12

Then I went outside and did 4 sets of intervals, poorly. It was warmer than I thought, although in the end I think it was me. :)

60 mins, 459 cals, Max HR: 175 (99%), Avg HR: 131 (74%)

I would have like to have felt more energy with the workout, but it just wasn’t in me today. Anyway, the second pork roast is done, and it’s a beautiful day out so I think maybe I’ll go have a swim.

Weekly Weigh-in - June 14th, 2009

This morning’s weigh-in was 240.8, which is 1.8 pounds down from last week. The 9-week loss is 6.2lbs (.69/week) which is usually the ‘number’ I look at to see how things are going overall. The other little compulsive number I look at is how many days I’ve been ‘on plan’ primarily with food. I still consider a maintenance week ‘on plan’ since I accomplished what I wanted to. So this is day 47 on plan with food.

So it’s finally in a loss situation. I would think that the next couple of weeks will show high losses per week as I drop the spike off the graph. In a way they should be ignored as much as the gain weeks. With that thinking it will be about 4 weeks before all is back to normal. I did briefly see 233.6 at the end of March, so seriously, no congratulations until then!

Next week’s plan is:

Continue Fat Loss II phase of New Rules of Lifting, 3 days a week. 30-45 min walks 5 days a week (with my mother), aiming for 45 mins on non-lifting days. For June I’ll likely continue at the same food levels - 2000 on non-workout days and 2250-2300 on lifting days and see how that goes.
