Beefy Mushroom Barley Soup
This is meant as a lunchtime soup. I’d take it probably on its own, or with a small piece of bread. Although knowing me I’m more likely to drop the bread and take some fruit afterwards.

A Recipe for Weight Loss: Beefy Mushroom Barley Soup <– Recipe here

Oh, I’m so glad to find your other blog as well with the receipes. I’ve been wondering about some of the foods you’ve listed in your posts.
I love the fact that you got carded at the college bar. I’ve been wondering what the new 64 calorie beer by Miller will taste like. Gonna have to pick some up when I see it.
Thanks again for sharing everything!
I try to add things that I will be making over and over to the recipe blog. Partly for me, so I have somewhere to look back for recipes, but also for others. Losing weight doesn’t have to consist of eating horrible foods. In fact, it really has to be about finding better ways of eating and living.
Oh, and pretty much everyone gets carded at the bar (without a stamp you can’t order drinks). I was just impressed that he thought I was younger than I am.
BY the way, I tried that new MGD 64 beer two days after this comment and the other 5 of the 6 pack are still in the fridge because it was REALLY bad! Better to just enjoy a good full bodied beer than to suffer thru this flat, old beer injected with carbonation. I can’t believe they put that product out. I’m sure it won’t last!
I’m so not beer savvy, but I probably agree with your statement. I did a search though and see that it’s low cal/low carb. So, yes, I agree. When I wanted ice cream I bought 4 small Haagen Daz bars, instead of the Skinny Cow ones beside them. I’d rather have the one with more natural ingredients that the so-called ‘good for you bar’.
140 cals and - “skim milk, wafer [bleached wheat flour, sugar, caramel color, dextrose, palm oil, corn flour, cocoa, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, modified corn starch, baking soda, salt, mono and diglycerides, soy lecithin], sugar, corn syrup, polydextrose, cream, whey protein, Inulin (Dietary Fiber), stabilizer [microcrystalline cellulose, cellulose gum, mono and diglycerides, locust bean gum, calcium sulfate, polysorbate 80, carrageenan], natural flavor, vitamin A palmitate”
Nope, I stuck with the 190 calorie, vanilla ice cream bar covered with a chocolate coating and almonds. - “VANILLA ICE CREAM: CREAM, SKIM MILK, SUGAR, EGG YOLKS, NATURAL VANILLA. MILK CHOCOLATE AND VEGETABLE OIL COATING WITH ALMONDS: MILK CHOCOLATE (SUGAR, MILK, CHOCOLATE, COCOA BUTTER, SOY LECITHIN, VANILLA), ALMONDS ROASTED IN VEGETABLE OIL (ALMONDS, SAFFLOWER OIL), COCONUT OIL.”
