Cardio (and other stuff) Sep 12th, 2008

So, just when you get into a routine… it changes.

I had pretty much decided today that there was no way I had the energy to lift tomorrow morning. As well, we’re having company for dinner so I’ve got things to do in preparation for that.

I did go to the fitness center today (at 12, before lunch) and did 30 mins on the treadmill and made it up to 45 mins on the recumbent bike. Again, it was a pretty high HR cardio as I’d already hiked out into the parking lot with a load of books to bring home. ie. my HR was about 129 coming out of the change room.

For fun, I put the HRM back on after my shower and the watch in my purse. I don’t care about wearing the watch, it just bugs me (as I’m not used to wearing one). I have to be careful with where I put it or it misses recording time. However, over the next 4 hours of class and driving home I burned about 907 cals. Mainly because walking at a brisk pace with a heavy bag and climbing stairs with a heavy bag seems to push my heart rate up pretty high. (ie. my max was 169 and average 98)

Anyway, in my last class of the day the teacher announced he’s managed to change the class time. So now it’s during the time I planned to workout on Fridays. Okay, so I’m now done at 3:30, but still. I’ve toyed with it a bit and I think this is the plan I’ve come up with:

Sun/Tues/Thu - lifting
Wed/Thu/Sat - cardio (total 120-135m)
Mon/Fri - rest days

I think it will actually work out better for me. So that’s the plan starting this Sunday. I’d pretty much decided that I’d run out of steam this evening and decided to switch the lifting until Sunday anyway.

Okay, that’s me for the day.  I’m going to try and get to bed shortly and not setting the alarm until 9am!  The day’s food was weird.  I’d originally planned a morning snack before I went in and did the cardio but I forgot to eat it.  Well, I thought of it briefly while getting my stuff out of the car but decided it was too close to the actual workout time.  So I had it with my lunch (big lunch).  :)

Food for the day:

Total: 2159 (31% fat, 34% carbs, 32% protein)

Breakfast: two fried eggs, honey oatmeal bread, peach (405)
AM Snack: none (0)
Lunch: whole wheat tortillas, mustard, smoked turkey, peach, chocolate zucchini cake, fruit & nut squares (573)
PM Snack: soy nuts, almonds (297)
Dinner: roasted tomatoes/onion/cauliflower with parmesan cheese, smoked chicken & turkey sausages, salad w/dressing (552)
Late Snack: protein shake with frozen berries, peach (331)
