Today’s Totals - Aug 15th, 2008

I’m trying to figure what I did for the rest of the day. Lunch was a little late since I was running late. We managed to get in a quick swim, and, oh yeah, it poured rain for almost an hour. I should really have done some work on my math prep. I’m going to whine about that constantly until I buckle down and do it. I think I was ticked that the first two went so well and the third was definitely not good. I think next week I have to make a point to spend some time on it each day until I’m done, or driven crazy. I have until about the 8th of September to get it done, but I don’t want to be doing it in September.

So, just adding the food for the day. After I’ve got my meal plan done for tomorrow I’m off to bed.

Food for the day:

Total: 2388 (24% fat, 40% carbs, 33% protein)

Breakfast: two scrambled eggs, honey oatmeal bread, jam, peach (363)

Strength Training - Aug 15, 2008

Oh look, the workout I should have done Wednesday. The good thing is that the wrist was perfect today, so probably worth skipping on Wed. I warmed up with a 5-min walk on the treadmill. Then I did:

A: Barbell Romanian Deadlift/Bent-over Row
- 110t/4, 110t/4, 110t/4, 115t/4
B1: Partial Single-leg Squat - 4, 4, 4, 4
B2: Wide-grip Lat Pulldown (Pullover)
- 37.5e/4, 37.5e/4, 37.5e/4, 40e/4
C1: Back Extension (Good Mornings) - 70t/4, 70t/4, 70t/4, 75t/4
C2: YTWL - 10e/4, 10e/4, 10e/4, 12e/4
D1: Swiss Ball Crunch (Long-arm) - 4, 4, 4, 4
D2: Prone Jackknife - 4, 4, 4, 4
D3: Lateral Flexion (Hannah side 3) - 4, 4, 4, 4
E: Prone Cobra - 120sec, 120sec, 120sec, 120sec

And then I did the HIIT, well most of it. Finished up with a total session of 100 mins.

HRM:
443cals, Max: 171 (96%), Avg: 104 (58%)

I went outside for the Prone Cobras and the HIIT portion so that the silly cats could go outside and chase squirrels, butterflies, and bees.  :D

I really struggled with two of the items today. The first was the good mornings. I don’t have a squat rack (I keep looking around to see where I could keep it) so getting the bar into position is actually harder than the exercise. If I keep pushing it up I should end with 85lbs, but I’m not sure if I’ll manage it. Only time will tell.

Even though I’m still doing bodyweight only on the partial single-leg squat these are still very hard for me. The good thing is that I’m getting marginally better with them. I was amazed that I managed the 40-lb dumbbells for the pullovers, especially with the left arm. I’m still a little concerned that I might drop one and crack my skull open but so far it’s been okay.  :P

So the other thing I struggled mightily with today was the HIIT. More than usual really. This is where I would have probably done better inside on the treadmill (or given up). Usually when I’m outside I do a couple of walking laps to warm-up and then run a circuit (or 1-1/2) of the pool and then walk twice as long as I managed. I can usually keep this up for the 15 mins although today I just walked for the last 5 mins. The only good thing is that now I really do kind of run during the fast portion. When I first did them it was more like a jog.
