Today’s Totals - July 21st, 2008

So I won’t know completely until tomorrow but today’s workout doesn’t feel too bad at the moment. I may regret saying that though.

The rest of the day was pretty slow. I should probably have done something, but really didn’t do much other than play around on the computer and have a swim. There will be a trip to Costco tomorrow which will start some cooking. And god help me, another attempt to get to the vets.

Strength Training - July 21st, 2008

I started with 15-mins walking outside and then did:

A: Front Squat/Push Press - 55t/8, 55t/8, 60t/8
B1: Step-up (12″) - 15e/8, 15e/8, 17.5e/8
B2: Dumbbell One-point Row - 25e/8, 25e/8, 27.5e/8
C1: Static Lunge, Rear Foot Elevated - 12e/8, 12e/8, 15e/8
C2: Push-up (full) - 8, 8, 8
D1: Plank - 60+60sec, 60+60sec, 30+20++20+20sec (all on floor)
D2: Horizontal Wood Chop (on floor) - 35t/8, 35t/8, 37.5t/8

I’ll explain in a minute, but there are two HRM readings, the first 64mins, and the second 16mins

HRM: 464 cals, Max: 161 (90%), Avg: 138 (78%)
HRM: 105 cals, Max: 152 (90%), Avg: 128 (78%)

So, again I decided to break up the workout so the stupid cats could go outside. I started with the walk outside, came in for the A&B exercises and went back outside for the C&D. I really didn’t think it through as I wasn’t thinking about the last exercise. I was thinking I’d just have to carry 2×20lb weights up the stairs and around the corner, but it ended up being 2×40lb weights. I know I only went up to 37.5 but I needed both 2.5lb inserts for the static lunges.

And no, that isn’t the reason for the break. I was having serious questions about whether I had enough energy to finish up during my last set of push-ups. It’s not that hot out (80F) but it’s humid, slightly oppressive. However, little one (Shadow) must have known I needed a break. Just as I was doing my first set of planks he did a major freak out. He ran in and out of the dining room door about three times at full speed, with the tail puffed up. I thought at first he was trying to get his brother to chase him but the other cat was nowhere to be found. The third time he disappeared into the house he didn’t come back (so I thought I should go look for him). It took a few minutes (which is when I turned the HRM off) but he eventually came back into the dining room and since he looked okay I went back outside and finished up.

I suspect he did something stupid, like trying to eat a bee. :o

I was outside another 20 minutes but when I came back in he had decided that the great outdoors was done for the moment and was stretched out over two dining room chairs. So I chased in the other cat and decided I’m going to stay in the air conditioning until it’s time for a swim. :)
