I’m also feeling very lazy as well on the typing side, so I’m going to copy what I just posted in one of the forums. I was going to write about it here first, but answered someone’s question on cruising so I decided to catch up on the other threads at the same time…
Well, I got up and I’m more sore today. Not my arms, but the muscles on my inner thighs. I suspect that the 90 mins of walking isn’t helping, but I hate not doing it. Then I remind myself that historically I’ve been very bad at listening to my body (ie. spending about a month doing tons of cardio while I was collecting a ton of fluid on one lung). So, for today I’ll take it easy and maybe use the weights only a little in the afternoon. I can always forget about Sunday’s rest day instead. I’m also reminded that my 7-day goal is actually 7 hours on the treadmill and I’ve done 6 in the last 5 days. So as long as I do an hour tomorrow I’m not really behind. And I only need 15 mins of ‘other’ exercises to be up to my 90 minutes.
It’s so tough, trying to decide when to not exercise. Especially when your whole life you’ve avoided it. I have a marginal left knee, a leftover of my teenage roller skating days. The bad shoulder I had finally got better, and my elbow (injured at work almost two years ago) is pretty good, although sometimes I notice it’s slightly weaker when using the weights. Now, at 42, I feel like a wreck sometimes. I also know that I’m a bit of a procrastinator, so how do I know when I really shouldn’t exercise? I could be just making excuses. It’s a little frustrating. I think once the pool is open it might be a little better, as I can swim laps and take some of the weight off my knee. We normally open the pool in mid-April, although with money tight, it might be mid-May this year. I’m thinking though that a month of non-weight bearing exercise might be worth it. We’ll see how it goes. It can always be closed earlier instead.
Back to live… So that’s it, at the moment I’m going to call it a lazy day. I’m finished with freezing the soup (another 10 this morning for a total of 21 frozen, 4 leaving the house). So I was right, between soups and frozen meals/meats we’re pretty much good until the end of April. What is does though is provide lots of options, even for a last minute there is a reasonable calorie pizza. Planning is key (for me at least). Anyway, I think I’m going to go lay on the couch with the heating pad for a while!
neverperfect - I don’t feel like I’m running to the bathroom a lot. I am trying to space it out. I have a nasty habit of drinking nothing in the morning, then too much between say 3pm and 7pm. Spacing it out helps. Just typing that reminding me that I hadn’t finished the 2 cups I got out with my breakfast. So I went to get it, drank it, and refilled the bottle, making a trip to the bathroom at the same time! I think your body gets used to what you’re giving it. I used to drink a lot of diet soda, so in the end I’m just replacing it with water. I’m down to adding one packet of Crystal Light a day. And when it’s done in a couple of months (using up what I had, including a 60-pack from Costco) I’m likely going to go cold turkey. I’ll leave the diet pop we have left until the summer. A carbonated cold beverage is still pretty refreshing on a hot summer day.
