Food - 1836 calories (19% fat, 49% carbs, 29% protein)

Breakfast - protein shake, 3 clementines (159)

Lunch - whole wheat tortilla, mustard, smoked ham, cheese blend, roasted veggies with balsamic vinegar, apple, fruit salad (513)

Dinner - chicken curry, rice, mixed vegetables, salad, salad dressing (568)

Snacks - protein shake (x2), apple, fruit salad, cheese spread and rice crisps (596)

Well, isn’t that odd, my calories are low for the day. And today I’m not hungry. It’s just nuts isn’t it? I have a bad tendency to copy breakfast and lunch over from the previous day, then adjust as needed. So I added the fruit salad (which wasn’t ready yesterday) and forgot to take off an apple. I didn’t pick up on it until putting in my daily totals (lunch was too high). So suddenly I have 81 calories less… but unless I find myself awake and starving later I’m just going to forget about it. And even if I am, all I’m going to take is that apple. But at 10:30 I still have my fruit salad, the apple, and the cheese and rice crisps, so I really doubt I’ll need anything else.

There wasn’t much to talk about today, so again, I’m just making an evening entry. Tomorrow the plan is to make soup, even though at the moment I’m not taking it for lunch. I’m still going to stock up on one more batch of both the beef/mushroom/barley soup and the spicy lentil one as well. This way when I get bored with the wraps I can switch back to the soups. I’ve also been asked (by my mother) to make some biscotti so I found a recipe for lemon ginger which sounds nice. They’ll be low enough in calories to work some into my plan (although some are being made for her to give away). So my first official break from exercising will be spent cooking. At least it will keep me from just vegging out on the couch.

mizu - I think it has something to do with the fact that our basic structure (flesh, organs, skin, etc.) are composed of water. If this isn’t already too weird, thing about dried fruit. Take away the water out of a grape and you get a raisin. Yep, we’ve definitely strayed away from normal conversation.

Water, water, water

Okay, so I mentioned in my earlier post that I should probably try taking a little more water every day.  I also just made a comment on another blog about water.  So I see a number of different things that say we’re anywhere between 55% and 70% water.  There is also so much conflicting information about how much you should drink every day.  Of course, the whole fluid thing is shot to hell by the fact that the food we eat contains water as well.  Those crunchy lettuce greens are almost all water.  Fruits also have a high concentration of water as well.  So, other than the number you always see (64 oz daily) I see recommendations for 1/2 oz per pound.  So at 335 that would be 167.5 oz of water, divided by 8oz give me almost 21 cups a day.  My first thought is that isn’t possible, but I usually hit 12 - 14 daily.  And I don’t count the 2 - 3 cups I drink with my protein shakes.  And the dinner amount I usually just add 2 cups, but it could be more.  Either way I’m probably doing 15 - 17 now, so it’s probably not too far out of line.  I’m going to take a little more in the earlier part of the day as I find when I get off the treadmill in late morning, or early afternoon that I’m drinking lots just then.

So I’ll aim for 18, which I actually hit today, and we’ll just assume that I’m taking in the other 3 in my protein shakes.  We’ll see if that helps my chapped lips (and who knows it might help the hunger).  I’ve also heard it said that sometimes hunger is really just thirst.  Isn’t it amazing that so many people know so much about losing weight… and we’re all still overweight?  ;-)

Well, I’ve killed some time and I haven’t had my apple, so that’s a good thing.  I did snack on a couple of apricots and a peach slice while making the fruit salad, but I kept it pretty much in control.  I talked myself out of many other things while putting the fruit salad in the fridge.  So, I think I should quit while I’m ahead and get some sleep.
