So today was just a regular day.  My knee is feeling better so I’ll probably go back to 90 minutes on the treadmill tomorrow.  A friend of mine gave me her copy of MasterCook 9 (a recipe program), and I’m in the very new, slightly obsessive stage with it.  I’ve been downloading and importing recipes like mad.  I even thought of starting to type in my own recipes, but I think if I do that it will only be with the favourites.  I’m trying to get rid of some of the clutter in my life and what I might do with the old ones is scan them and then store them on disc.  I’ve got an index already of titles with book numbers and pages, and entering them all into the computer would take decades.

anabolina - I really do like broccoli.  I’ve been roasting vegetables for my lunch and I think when I’m out I’m going to add brussel sprouts to that mix.  I really do like them as well.

I was trying to get to bed earlier so I decided to skip the evening post. So here I am awake at 3:30 so I figured I might as well post it. Who needs sleep anyway?

mizu - I do like it and I’m often amazed how much we shop there. The tortillas are pretty much the only thing that didn’t come from there at lunch. Oh, some of the canned fruit in the fruit salad was home canned. We buy almost all of our meat there and pretty much all of our fruits and vegetables. We go through a lot of the fresh stuff, more than two people probably should.

heatherdw - I probably only have about 750 cals before I hit dinner. My breakfast is low, just enough so I can say I eat it. Lunch runs around 500 cals usually, and I have a protein shake in the afternoon most days. The main difference is that I usually split the remaining calories between dinner and a late evening snack. Is your husband trying to lose weight as well? I only ask because if he isn’t just give him more of what you’ve made. What I cut out of most evening meals is the starch (potato, pasta, rice). I think I only make one meal with potato, and now when I make pasta it’s somewhere between 1 and 2 oz, rice is just a couple of Tb tops. You could probably make the same meals, just fill up your plate with vegetables. Tonight for example was a beef stew I make with onions, mushrooms, celery and carrots. Normally I would have either added potatoes or served mashed with it. Instead I made it with 2 cups of broccoli as my side. Except for watching things like oil added to what I’m cooking I don’t really make diet meals for dinner. Oh, and I make my own salad dressings, with no oil (using a water/cornstach blend in its place).
