Hip Pain, day 2

Posted by primaballerina on March 11th, 2010 |Filed Under Uncategorized |

Well, I did it. I ran again. 10 minute run, 1 minute walk. X3. Then a 5 min cool down. I did have to do a power walk about 1/2 way thorough my 3rd set because my hip was KILLING me, but at least I finished it.  I weighed in at 180.6 today (what the hell..HOW did I let myself get here again!?)

If you’re still having pain you might need to take it easy for a few days until it gets better. There is basically no faster way to get a permanent injury than to go running on an slightly-injured body. I ended up with back surgery from doing this 3 years ago, so I’m talking from experience.

I know it’s frustrating when you’re fired up to exercise to give your body the break the pain is calling for and let REST work, but honestly it’s often the best treatment.

Do you swim? that could be a good substitute for a few days while you heal…

    Thanks for your comment, Round!

I’m feeling much better..i think my body was just protesting after having been stationary for so long. I actually had spinal surgery last year and my surgeon told me the best thing to do is get running again (advice i haven’t taken until now). I do swim, actually- the only problem is my schedule doesn’t allow me to these days. :( I’m thinking of taking up yoga again, too, to help with my flexibility.
