Sleepless in Kentucky

What’s it take to get a good night’s sleep around here?  I went to bed at 11:15 and woke up at 12:30 to an annoying little tune that sounded like a cell phone ringing.  Woke up DH and we started investigating only to find that he had somehow set an alarm on his cell phone.  His “wake-up” call interrupted what had been a deep sleep up to that point.  DH woke up at 3:30 to get ready for work and couldn’t find his keys.  The resulting “search and find” only took five minutes but involved turning on lights and rummaging around the bedroom until he found that he’d knocked them behind the dresser while trying to deal with the unrelenting “alarm” at 12:30.  Dozed off again only to jump out of bed at 4:15 from a crack of thunder that threatened to split the house wide open and let the downpour wash us all away.  When my alarm actually sounded at 4:45, I had to pee so bad there was no hope of waiting it out so I gave up.

Busy day today.  School, followed by an extra hour and a half of ESS, followed by an evening of making coffee cakes for school tomorrow.  Maybe I can get it all done fairly early and make an early night of it.

Where did you get your blog layout from? I’d like to get one like it for my blog.

Anyway DS could help out with those coffee cakes, what with him being a chef and all? Nothing worse than getting a lousy, interrupted night of short cat naps. I have nights where it seems like I wake up every hour for one thing or another. Or last night, where I took an Advil PM which knocked me out cold and about an hour later my daughter called and woke me up. Oh MAN, does that hurt!

I say if you have to screw the coffee cakes and pick some up in the morning. Is there anything that says they have to be homemade? My mom used to send me to school for bakesales with her special “homemade” cookies that looks suspiciously like Oreos, even came in the same packaging! Hey, she worked. She didn’t have time (or inclination) to bake. Life happens. And your rest is much more important than some coffee cakes.
