Last day for students. I’ve just got to do this one more time this year. Most of them will be taking finals today so it shouldn’t be too bad.

Andrew got accepted into the internship program for this summer! I let him leave school at noon yesterday and DS took him downtown where they finally accepted the letter about his social security number. Of course, that means he’s only off about a week before he starts work but it will be new and exciting for him and the money’s not bad. He’ll gross about $217.00 a week and that’s a lot to a kid. More importantly, he’ll get a lot of benefits from the program in terms of education and scholarship.

Today is jeans and a tee shirt. I’ve got a lot of cleaning and packing to do and the kids can help me. I hope…

Rolled over this morning and DH was still snoozing. He called in sick (You didn’t! You, dog!). Phyllisann is taking a sick day because her son graduates today and DS is catering for her after the graduation. Don’t know what he’s fixing for her but I know there’s a gingersnap crusted ham with bourbon glaze, chess bars, and derby pie bars involved. Andrew has to make up a final exam that he missed when he left school early yesterday and has another one scheduled last period. Steven was recommended for Honor’s classes next year. Quite a feat for a kid with a learning disability. He seems excited about it and I’m hoping it will give him the incentive to work harder. Andrew works like a dog at school and on homework. Steven does okay but he usually takes the easy road and could do a lot better. Maybe being in class with Honors kids will get him to apply himself better.

Let’s see….anything else going on this morning? Don’t think so.

I am so jealous that you’re done w/kids. We still go through Monday :(

What fantastic news about the boys. I wish all parents (and yes, you are their mom) of kids with disabilities worked as hard w/their kids as you do. Seeing kids work hard to reach their potential makes it that much more frustrating when kids squander their abilities. OK, I’ll shut up about the teaching stuff b/c you don’t have to think about that stuff for almost 2 months!!! You made it, and we’re going to kick butt this summer and show up to school in August as 2 skinny minnies :)
