I need a vacation!
This past week has been a disaster from the very beginning. DH and I kept laughing so we wouldn’t cry. One fiasco after another. I should be heading to work refreshed and ready to deal with everything but I’m sitting here at the kitchen table trying to wake up and dreading going to work today.
Vacation, in a nutshell, was:
a late start on Friday with only about three hours driving in a downpour before pulling over for the night
downpours and thunderstorms all day Saturday so that we pulled over in Macon to spend another night
Sunday -arriving in Florida, setting up the cabin and RV in the rain
Monday _ beautiful day - went to town to get groceries and stuff to do the floor- moved everything out of the downstairs in the cabin and onto the porch
Monday night- thunderstorms and downpours that kept up running to keep the cabin stuff covered with tarps
Tuesday- raining like crazy -worked like a dog to level the cement floor in the cabin and started spreading mortar and laying tile
Wednesday_ STILL pouring rain, continued to work on the floor (OWWW, my back and knees!)
Thursday- STILL pouring rain - continued to work on the floor (things are getting pretty muddy and gross)
Friday - Finished the floor in the morning, the sun came out and it was a glorious day!
Saturday - Closed the cabin and headed home - got about 25 miles down the road and found it closed because water was over the bridge (had to take the car off the dolly, remove the dolly, and turn the RV around inch by inch on a narrow two lane road, reattach the dolly and reload the car) Headed in another direction to find another bridge washed out and repeated the entire process. Got detoured WAY out of our way to finally hook up with interstate in Adel, Georgia. Drove until almost midnight and pulled into Wally World exhausted.
Sunday-Drove all day, a wreck in Nashville had the interstate closed and we were rerouted into an unfamiliar area. Got about six miles down the road and saw a sign that said: “Low clearance ahead! High profile vehicles do not proceed! Eleven foot clearance” That’s really bad news when your vehicle is twelve feet high. We were forced to turn around and DH managed to scrape the guardrail in the process, leaving Manny with a big old wound. Finally got home about 6:00 and the skies opened up and poured on us as we tried to unload the necessities from Manny.
So, here I am…wondering what the Hell happened and why I feel like I need a vacation…I’m going to hit the shower and count my blessings so I don’t dwell on the past week. hmmm…Blessing number one- We’re all home safe and sound….Blessing number two-the floor got done and it looks great…Blessing number three-I have a job to go to……..
7:00 - I’m going for a perfect day. Should be soul cleansing..

Wow, you definitely need a vacation from your vacation. But like you said, you have much to be thankful for. Hope the 1st day back at school is relaxing.
Slumpbusters, since you asked, is a challenge that a person sponsors each week. They decide what the goal is and also the penalty you have to pay if you don’t reach your goal. I still don’t know who’s running it this week so I can’t tell you about this weeks goal. If I find out more I’ll let you know.
