Homeward Bound
A couple more pics…Some street vendors in Progreso and the beach at Progreso, the bayou down around New Orleans, a picture of our place down in Florida, and another shot of Cozumel to warm everyone up on those icy mornings. It’s going to be so hard to go back to the ice and snow!
10:30 - We pulled over for the night at the same hotel we always stay at. Halfway between Madison and home. We used to have a great little hotel here where the owners knew us pretty well. Even had a six pack to share one time when we came in on a Sunday. They had a fantastic pool that was always deserted and warm as a tropical breeze. Every room was personally decorated by the owners and none of them were the same. About two years ago, we pulled in and saw a big sign: “Closed - Property available for sale or lease”. Since then, we stay at a Days Inn across the street. Don’t think Days Inn will ever remember our first names (sigh - so much for the good old days).
We fooled around (actually, DH and the boys fooled around) until 2:00 before we left Madison. It’s always so difficult to leave. So warm and peaceful and private. I grabbed the camera and went walking in the woods this morning. Came to a pretty place where the Spanish moss was drooping off the low hanging branches of a big old live oak, pulled out the camera, and the batteries were dead. Sorry chickies…no pictures of the woods or the big old clawfoot tub in the woods. I spent a lot of time out there. Soaking in an inexaustable supply of steamy hot water and letting it run over the edge of the tub and out onto the ground while drinking a Corona or a glass of wine and looking at the stars and the moon. DGS went out one night and came back fairly quickly. Said he didn’t like it. He got spooked and didn’t like being out there. Guess he’s seen too many documentaries about Sasquatch or something… Both DGS’s moved into the old RV when we got to the property and turned it into a weeklong bachelor pad. Left the cabin for DH and I. The weather was fantastic and we slept with the windows open and listened to the crickets and frogs. It’s really hard to leave.
We might have driven the rest of the way home even though we wouldn’t have gotten in until around 1:00 am but we got caught in traffic outside Atlanta for two and a half hours because of a wreck so we’ve pulled over here in Calhoun, Georgia. Our usual stopping place. Can’t wait to read a few blogs and see what you guys have been up to!
BTW - There’s a Tanger Outlet Mall at this exit!! We may be late getting out of here tomorrow, too!
