Chic, Chic, Fil-A!!!!
5:30 - The scales rolled over to 169.5 this morning! Whooo Hoooo! Dancing around the kitchen doing the chicken arms dance! Haven’t seen this baby for a long time! Going to celebrate by wearing a pair of skinny, white jeans today. Granted, they’re size 16 but skinny jeans in 16 is like a real 14. Right?
My alarm didn’t go off this morning. Don’t know why. It usually goes off at 4:45 and I hit the snooze button a couple of times. Woke up at 5:10 this morning and it hadn’t gone off. I double checked it and everything is set correctly but it just didn’t go off. Good thing I’m starting to get back into the school year schedule or I’d still be snoozing.
DH started a new schedule at the beginning of the summer and works a four-day work week. It really gripes me to have to roll out of bed while he gets to sleep in every Monday. Maybe I should rattle some pots and pans in here to celebrate
3:30 - Home from work! I didn’t waste any time getting out of the building today. DH has been busy. He fixed a couple of odds and ends and made a curry pasta salad with turkey for dinner. One of our faves but it’s a pain to fix because you’ve got to blanch green beans, carrots, cauliflower, pea pods, and broccoli and then chop and dice a lot of other goodies. He fixed it with fat-free mayo and fat-free yogurt so the flavor is a little lacking but it’s still pretty good. Personally, I appreciate the deference to my calorie counting. He doesn’t usually take that into consideration and it’s nice to have something good for dinner and not have to fix it myself.
Work went pretty well today. I’m getting used to my 7th and 8th graders and they’re getting used to me. The main problem I have with them is the noise. They’re so damn LOUD. I’m used to working with high school kids and they’re pretty good about controlling their voices. We’ve been working on putting together carts full of laptops, checking the laptops, recording the serial numbers and distributing them to classrooms. It seems like I have to tell them to quiet down every five minutes. Sometimes, I just feel like screaming, “Shut the F8CK UP!” That would probably get their attention. We haven’t had much of the more traditional classroom type setting and they may do better in a more controlled environment but the priority right now is setting up 50 carts full of laptops and chargers and getting them out to the classrooms. Once that’s done, we can do some more interesting stuff. They’re only managing to get about 5 carts done per day. (sigh) I’ve been rewarding good behavior with stickers. Seems like middle school kids love stickers. Ran out of them today and had to use address labels. Believe it or not, the kids loved them because they could “customize” them and write their own messages. (hmmmm…”Hey! You! What’s that profanity you’ve got written on that label?” — “I didn’t do it! Mrs. R. gave it to me!”)
I wonder how many days till Christmas break?
