Tasty Treats of the Not So Chocolate Variety
Okay so I thought I would share some of my favourite recipes for salads with you. I posted them in the forums but they are in a post so deep down that nobody probably will read it.
Cucumber Salad
Cut up tomatos, cucumber and red onion. Add lime juice, vinegar, salt and pepper to taste. Then either add cilantro or mint. Both are incredibly tasty but I prefer cilantro.
Mango Salad
Get an unripe mango and jullienne it.. add red and green peppers, red onion, cilantro, lime juice, vinegar, salt, pepper and a little bit of sugar. Now the fun begins.. you can add a little crushed peanuts, shredded coconut, green onion, or/and mint. Any combination of these extra toppings makes the salad delicious, but often I just eat it without them.
Chickpea Salad
Take a can of chickpeas and drain and rinse. Add tomatoes and onion. Add lemon juice and a couple of tablespoons of tamarind chutney. Salt and pepper to taste.

I also make a cucumber salad, must be a middle eastern thing lol.
I do cucumber, tomato, and onion (Any type you like I’ve made it with all sorts), then lemon juice, sumac, and salt. You can do vinegar if you like and I don’t always add the lemon juice if I have really good sumac
A huge salad of this stuff is less than 100 calories
so yummy!
i am going to copy and paste this.
for a wonderful pick me up to a standard spinach, a crumble of rosenburg cranberry blue cheese and a pear. if you want to make it even more wonderful a handful of pecans/almonds or filberts.
and of course, balsamic vinegar.
trading recipes is one of my favorites things to do.
thanks!
isolde
beerab, I am addicted to Arab salads.. fatoush and taboulee are my absolute favourites, and I don’t attempt to make them myself because I am always disappointed. We frequent this Lebanese restaurant regularly with a vegetarian buffet.. so so so delicious.
isolde, that salad sounds amazing. I am getting hungry for salad now.. any salad topped with pecans is a salad for me.

Me too lol. I could eat my salad every single day and not get sick of it! When I ran out of sumac one time I almost had a heart attack lol.
