A Wonderful Weekend and Weigh In

Saturday was Yumna’s birthday party with her friends.  This is the first time I’ve thrown a party for a bunch of little girls.. it was the BEST! The kids were so cute and adorable and they had such a good time.  I had lots of activities for them.. they decorated their own jewelry box, they danced, they got their make up and hair done with lots of sparkles, they decorated cupcakes and played games.  It was nausiatingly girly and Yumna enjoyed every minute of it!

So the challenge for me was to make the birthday as untempting for me as possible.. so although I had the standard pizza, cake and candies.. I also made a bunch of healthy snacks for myself and the Moms.. I made hummus, bruchetta, cheese and crackers, a vegetable and fruit platter and not so healthy samosas.  This really helped in detering myself from eating junk food.. obviously I need to eat, so I had some good choices, maybe not the best ones, but better than cake and pizza. (I had only had one slice of pizza and no cake).

My brother in law and sister in law have also joined us on the diet.. this is really good news because it will make eating with them easier.. they are really pumped too, so it gives some new enthusiasm to eating right. My SIL was here for the birthday party helping out, so its nice to know that both of us had something to eat that wouldn’t completely destroy our diets.

Yesterday, Yumna had her dance class, so I decided while I was waiting to go out and walk instead of sitting around reading and waiting.  I found a little trail that I took and walked for about 15 minutes.  It was a really short trail.. I was kind of disappointed.. I would of liked to have walked for the full 45 minutes.. so I just went back in the community centre and walked around there.

Today is weigh in day, and I am happy to report that I came in at 191.4 lbs.  I am so psyched that this stall is finally over and things are moving in the right direction.  I have to credit the w8 challenge for some of it.. I force myself to exercise for at least half an hour a day just so I can get that half a star.. I should bump that up to a full hour now. I’m being very strict about giving myself the food stars.  I only give myself one if I haven’t eaten any junk food of any kind and have limited my carbs enough.  I haven’t got a lot of the food stars, but I really want to force myself to eat better.

  1. Sounds like a lovely party! I want to go and decorate my own jewelry box! OMG I can just imagine how much of a BLAST that would have been as a kid. :)
