Does Gravity Work on Me?

Maybe gravity works differently on me than the rest of the world. I’ve been checking out lots of photos and blogs on 3FC, and they are showing these gorgeous gorgeous girls, at 160lbs. wearing size 8s.. like seriously what kind of 8s are these.. I’ve never been close to a size 8.. maybe when I was 9 years old.. but I have been 160lbs. When I got married I was 160lbs. and about two months before I got pregnant with my Yumna I was 160lbs. No where even close to an 8, unless you times it by two! I wish I could figure out how to post a blasted picture on this thing so I could prove it to you. - Okay.. here I figured out how to upload a picture.. FINALLY.  Here is a picture of me in October 2003.  I’m about 160lbs.. not even close to a 8.. maybe a 14.

So I think I must have a totally different gravital force than the rest of the world. Here are some of the explanations I have come up with to explain this strange phenomenon:

- pounds weigh more in the United States than they do in Canada
- i’ve been shopping at all the wrong stores that use smaller sizes to describe their clothes
- perhaps my scale is in kilos and not pounds
- my bones are fluffier than the rest of the world
- any others?

  1. haha I wouldn’t have guessed you were a size 14 in this photo. I would have guessed smaller.

I think part of it is the girls are working out so much they have a lot of muscle mass and therefore are smaller. Muscle is more dense than fat so you could have someone who is 160 and be a size 14, but someone who works out daily and is 160 but a size 8 because they are very muscular. :)

  2. LOL Loved your blog! I often feel the same way. But I can tell you, body shape and height have a lot to do with it. And believe it or not, 2 inches makes a huge difference! I’m 5′4” and I look completely different from my friend who is 5′2”. We also have different body shapes. She’s a ‘ruler’ (rectangle) and I’m a ‘pear’ (inverted triangle), so we carry our weight completely different. At 160, unless I really start to build some muscle, I’d say I would be about a 10. I wouldn’t hit the 8’s until the 150’s. But we’ll see! So, don’t be discouraged! I’m sure it’s not you or the scale — just the difference in the way we’re all built!
