The Juice Monster No Longer Lives Here

Well.. I didn’t realize just how much I was addicted to juice until I saw that it has taken 14 days for my kids to finish the juice that was in the fridge when I started the diet. We would spend so much money on juice it was unbelievable.. probably $10 a week. That’s $40 a month, $480 a year!!! I am still planning on buying juice for the kids but they actually go through it a lot slower then I do.

On other fronts, my skin is doing great.. my arms almost look normal and my legs are significantly better. I’m attributing that mostly to my topical spray, but I am sure that my diet is playing a part in it too.

So I’ve been good about exercising.. not necessarily with the kids, but doing something everyday. Today I went with the kids and my husband out for a long walk to the Winners near my place. We live in the suburbs, we used to live in downtown Toronto. When we lived downtown, we didn’t have a car and we walked everywhere. We still liked to eat, but we would walk to work, walk to pick up my daughter from the babysitters, walk to get our groceries, walk to go anywhere. Now, we just sit in the car and go. I think for me, along with the assorted food issues, one of the big problems has been the lack of walking.

Last year around this time, my youngest daughter was 3 months old.. I would wrap both the kids up and get them in the stroller every day for a walk of some kind.. I was 185 back then. Not exactly great, but less then now. Then in May of last year, I got my license… and started driving everywhere for everything.. no more walking.. not even in the summer. I’m pretty sure the juice and not walking are the reasons I gained 25lbs. in one year. Well 10 gone, and 15 left to go until I get back there again. I think I’m going to set 185 as my first mini-goal. That is also the weight I was right after I delivered both of my kids.

I was reading a blog, and this lady had given herself material rewards for losing weight.. like after losing each 10 lbs. she would get something, a purse, a belt, etc. I thought this was a great idea.. I think I’m going to do this too. I’m going to get a massage or a facial when I hit 185.. depending on what I’m comfortable with at that time. (If my skin is back to what it was, then I won’t be so comfortable going for a massage.)
