Shaky.

I went to bar method class today. According to foursquare, the last time was August 2011 :O It was hard as hell and I felt like I was the most out of shape out the whole group. It’s sad.

The next challenge is to wake up tomorrow and do it again. That’s my probelm. It’s being cozy in bed on a Saturday morning vs. waking up and driving to get to my class on time.

I guess I have to take this one day at a time. Weightloss is hard.

Who wears short shorts?

I completed Day 2, Level 2 today. I’ll tell you what is giving me trouble: the twisty jumping cardio exercise (I don’t remember what it’s called), plank jumping jacks, plank squats, knee raises, and that one ab exercise where you hold the weights above your head. I have yet to make it through any plank exercises without taking breaks. I also went out for a run today. I think I’m ready to move to week 2 for C25K. I still can’t make it through the runs without wanting to die, but I want to change things up a bit.

Haven’t written any good things for a while so here it goes: my legs… OMG my legs look so sick and muscular and tone and skinny (but not toothpick skinny). I love my legs :D. I haven’t worn shorts since… 5 years ago maybe? I’m talking SHORT shorts. Not the kind that goes mid thigh. I grew up in Hawaii so shorts were a must to your wardrobe and I wore them all the time and looked good in them too. And now… it’s so possible for me to wear them in the summer.

Finished Day 9 of Level 1 for the 30DS. Whooo… just when I want to stop, it’s over. So glad it’s only 20ish minutes. Did my daily run and decided that I can’t run 6 times a week. Methinks that is too much and my legs are paying for it. I have really bad knees. As a kid, I twisted my knee 3 times. Once in dance class, once in karate class, and once while rollerblading. Today, I got mega calf pains so I think I need to rest it for a bit. I’m moving on to Week 2 for C25K next week, regardless if I can make it through. I need to increase my stamina.

Today for breakfast I had Stoneyfield’s Blackberry Nonfat yogurt. I don’t like the consistency that much. It’s kinda runny. I think I’m going to switch totally to Chobani greek yogurt. It has so much protein! Plus it’s so creamy and nommy :D

Last night I made snickerdoodles. Funny story, the first time I made it, I forgot to put the eggs and it came out all crumbly and hard. lol. I had to throw it out. I did try it again and they came out wonderfully. They’re HUGE! My boyfriend snuck in some chocolate chips in a couple. He’s going to give it away to one of his friends.

Food Blogs.

Lately, I’ve been searching for new blogs to read and came across a few that I really like. They take pictures of every meal that they eat and it facinates me how much variety they have. I’m getting a lot of new ideas of things to eat. I hate eating the same things over and over.

Today I had a pretty good run. I had side pain during the middle and had to slow down to a walk a few times, but I sprinted in the beginning and end and it felt damn good! I am getting lighter and speedier (is that a word?) by the day. I haven’t ran like this since I was in high school. I also did Day 7, Level 1 on the 30DS. Unfortunately, after I finished the jumping rope exercise, my knee hurt a little. Nothing major though.

Good things: I’m actually looking forward to eating yummy, healthy foods and working out more and more everyday. It’s like there’s a high that comes with it. The guilt that comes with eating “forbidden” foods is slowly but surely subsiding. By letting the guilt go, I’m able to enjoy my food more. I’m seeing it more as fuel = food rather than, “OMG I need to eat this because I’m not going to be able to eat it when I’m on my diet!” or “EH, screw it, I already f*ked up my diet… I might as well go all the way. Go big or go home!” I call it the “I’m starting my new diet on Monday” syndrome.

Faster.

Went running again today and damn I am getting faster :) woooo! Also completed Day 4, Level 1 on 30DS.

So I’ve decided, I’m taking a 3 day break from working out. I was going to squeeze in a workout tomorrow before I leave for Vegas, but it’s just not possible. I leave at 8am and I don’t see myself working out, eating breakfast, cooling down, taking a shower, packing last minute things, etc. before then. Plus I have to stay out late tonight due to my boyfriend’s midnight launch party thingie. Plus I’m still waiting on the laundry and I need to pack said laundry and toiletries and other miscellaneous things. I think it’s good to take a recovery period after 7 straight weeks of working out 6 days a week. I don’t want to burn myself out.

Let’s see… the next three days are going to be a challenge. What can I say? My family loves to eat. Even when they’re not hungry. And if you’re not eating with them, they’ll think you’re anorexic. No joke. That is why I’m going to fool them by eating slowly. I don’t know if it’s going to work, but I’m not going to obsess over it.

Happy Election Day :D Did you go out and vote today? I did! *raises hand* I didn’t have to stand in line either. I just gave the dude my absentee ballot, got my sticker, and left. Can you tell I really wanted the “I Voted” sticker?

Anyhoo, I did Day 2 of 30DS, Level 1. It was just as tough as yesterday, but at least I almost got through the jumping rope / jumping jacks portion. Tomorrow, I’m going to push it. I also used 5 lbs for the chest fly’s and I definitely felt more burn. I went for a short run today and found that it was actually harder to run than yesterday. I’m not sure why?

Ate a lot of nommy things today. I had yogurt + granola for breakfast today. The granola was cinnamon goodness! mmmm. For snacks I had bread + pumpkin spice cream cheese. I looove cinnamon this time of year.

Good things: On my way to vote, I had to climb this hill. In the past, when I would climb that hill, I would be winded and would have to constantly take breaks. This time, I walked up with no breaks and didn’t feel tired at all :D

First Impressions.

Today was the first workout with both Couch to 5K (C25K) and Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred (30DS). 30DS is killer for a 25 minute workout. Srsly. I was sweating up a storm. It was all dripping in my eyes, into my mouth. Gross, but true. I never knew jumping jacks could be such torture. The squats and lunges weren’t so bad. Probably because Debbie Siebers trained me well :). I need to up the weights in some exercises such as the chest fly’s and bicep curls. I didn’t feel any burn at all for those. As for C25K… that was gooood. It was tough, but I felt so energized afterward.

I tried some new foods today. My pre-workout snack was 1/2 a fuji apple and 1/2 a cinnamon roll Larabar. Nomnomnom. It gave me the energy I needed to push myself hard. The Larabar was surprisingly tasty for an energy bar. Plus it only had 6 ingredients (all pronounceable!): dates, walnuts, almonds, raisins, cinnamon, and cashews. After our workout, I had OIKOS blueberry yogurt sprinkled with some Kashi Honey Almond Flax cereal, 1/2 whole wheat english muffin w/ a slice of cheddar cheese and 1 egg. Filling and delicious :) For lunch, I’m having some leftovers I had from last night’s meal at “Whole Paycheck”. lol.

Good things: I “sweat-ed”… A LOT!
