Inspiration Space
This spot is for me and for you to have inspiration stories, quotes and web links to prevent bingeing. I will expand this section. If you have ideas, please pass them along.
For when the food seems too strong & you feel alone…
There are guardian angels, people who have the same issues we have and who have a beautiful light within them…
SARK (Susan Ariel Rainbow Kennedy) has been a transformative leader and educator for over 25 years and has written 15 bestselling books on healing and creativity. Even though I have never met her, I feel she has walked alongside me in my journey of recovery. At first her California…um…um…free spiritedness clashed with my East Coast cynicism, I now consider her a treasured friend and I loved her books. Because of her I relish spending the day in my pajamas (I’m in them right now), I love using markers are “writing books,” and using my creativity. She is also a person struggling with an eating disorder (she is open about this on her web site. I don’t know her most current status).
Check out a bookstore and pick up one of SARK’s books or visit her on the web and see her playful website as part of her company http://www.planetsark.com/index.htm
Ron Saxen wrote this amazing book, The Good Eater, which is memoir of his life as a binge eater. He overcame his eating disorder, which you can see in dramatic fashion through the photos. I won’t give the story away, but it is touching. You can find Ron on the web via…www.ronsaxen.com
Anne Lamott is a writer, who dives deep and emerges with refreshing insights on life and faith. She writes mostly memoir nonfiction and talks about her son Sam, faith in God, the writing life, and struggles with different things including an eating disorder. She writes about pain with so much warmth and humor. I feel very much like she is part of my family. I went to hear her speak once and its was like seeing a superstar, except that she was very much like everyone else. Her books are fantastic. I liked Plan B, Traveling Mercies, Grace Eventually, and Bird by Bird. Read more about her at www.barclayagency.com/lamott.html Ann Lamott in a talk she gave described her food issues and described Intuited Eating stuff that is espoused by Geneen Roth. Roth’s books are worth reading as well.
