Myfitnesspal

April 9th, 2013 by morrigan

It doesn’t yell at me if I eat too much (well kind of… it says ‘if you continue to eat like this you will weigh X lbs in 5 weeks’).  But today it gave me a red warning that I did not have enough calories.  Said I was starving myself.  Seriously, I am over my weekly goals most weeks.  You would think it could look st the long run average and not just 1 day.

I tried a free weight loss hypnosis app.  Kinda liked it.  The guy had a sexy voice.

On hubbies

April 8th, 2013 by morrigan

I told a friend of mine how good my husband and I are being with food, how all he takes for lunch every day at work is carrots, hummus, and fruit.  She laughed at me, said he orders restaurant food most days and has huge lunches.  She described all the yummy food he buys at the resort he works at.  I only see evidence of Doritos bags in the car.  My DH is naturally thin, but has gone from his normal 165 to probably 180.  I have no room to judge as I am 10″ shorter and heavier than him.  But I would like to start a conversation about our health and diet.  I am overweight and out of shape.  He has me beat in both categories, but as our kids get older I want both of us to be good examples.  Today I suggested he start thinking about teaching our son calisthenics and lifting.

This changing myself and my family is no easy task.

Checking in at 187

April 7th, 2013 by morrigan

Myfitnesspal has been a godsend for keeping track of my diet.  And although I have never watched a reality show, I started listening to Jillian Michaels podcast.  She speaks my language.  The numbers make sense and am really motivated.

Chocolate

Why can’t chocolate be calorie free?  Like diet Pepsi before you add rum.

MFP

June 28th, 2012 by morrigan

I just started using myfitnesspal recently.  I am super excited about the accountability and motivation it provides.  It is also free like 3FC but comes with an iPhone app to track calories.  It is really very similar to the support offered by WW online, but without paying $40 a month.

When you run out of calories for the day you can gain them back with exercise.  I went for a bike ride his evening when I realized I had gone over, it felt great staying under my calorie goal two days in a row

Cutting Daily Calories

June 26th, 2012 by morrigan

We eat a family dinner every night with meat, carbs(bread and pasta, potatoes or rice), salad and veggies. This week I started only making enough pasta or rice for the kiddos to have 1 serving each. My husband and I just eat the veggies, salad and meat. I am consuming much less than when I would have two or three helpings of pasta. The kids still get a balanced diet. And there isn’t a fridge full of tempting leftovers.

207.4

June 25th, 2012 by morrigan

I signed up for a weight loss challenge at my local gym, but didn’t actually start  until today (3 weeks later).  My new diet.  Salad with protein for lunch and dinner for both me and my hubby.   The kids get a starch but we are sticking to protein and salad.
