Carnival
August 24th, 2008

I was such a good girl tonight. Not nearly the amount of damage I really wanted to do — a corn dog, corn on the cob, and a nonfat sugar-free peach frozen yogurt. They had these french fries that looked like a tornado. I wanted them so bad. When we walked past the booth, I thought to myself how this was the one time of year I would be able to get them, and I left without even trying one. Baby Boy had a fantastico time soaking up all the colors and noises. As did I. The carnies are more feisty than I remember.
Pineapple ground cherries

So today I hit the local green market and they had these strange looking fruits on sale. I had never heard of or seen them before — ground cherries. They advertised that they tast like pineapple. Well, for 2.99, I couldn’t pass them up, plus, they came from my favorite local organic farm, Peaceful Belly. Well they have a strange tomatillo-like wrapper. Inside is a little yellow cherry, and they did taste like candied pineapple! And the schnozzberries taste like schnozzberries! If you haven’t tried these, you should.

This one is going to be a toughie, 147. This week, I have really just been exhausted by the end of every day. I really just walked about a mile and a half at the track tonight and about three miles last night. I ate somewhat responsibly today, if my turkey green apple brie sandwich counts as “responsible.” Since I rarely eat out, I really wanted to side it with fries, but I was a good girl and got a salad w/ranch on the side instead.
After my mom, baby boy, and I had lunch, we hit the Macy’s clearance center. I tried on a size 8 Donna Ricco dress — surprise, I couldn’t zip it up in the back. I hate being this wide. Maybe that is why I am so hot and bothered by Michael Phelps, because I am currently wearing his back. Well, that ain’t ever gonna change.
I am getting “banged” tomorrow by my stylist. That’s her dirty way of putting me getting my bangs trimmed. She is such a badass. I love that her hair is always a style I want to try. I don’t think I would ever trust a hair stylist whose hair looked like crap.

I am so glad that it didn’t take a week to get back to 147. I should reach my goal of 145 by Monday. Crazy. I haven’t been 145 since I was 22. 135 is my new goal. I know it may take me a few months to lose the last ten pounds. I am not going to stress about it, because I feel strong and happy. Staying on plan shouldn’t be hard today. Baby boy and I don’t really have any plans.

Crap. That lasagna was to die for! Our friends had us over last night for dinner and I had two servings of lasagna. I had saved my remainder of points for this dinner. I don’t even know how many calories I consumed last night and don’t care. It was tasty. I couldn’t believe it was homemade. So good. So I am back on the wagon today.
Anyway, I had absolutely no sleep last night because my baby had taken a really long nap earlier in the day. I hope I fair better tonight. Had a game tonight and jog/walked about 3.5 miles. I think I am going to have to break down and get a gym membership for three months when it starts to snow. I don’t want to fall back into the shape I was in last winter. I hope tomorrow’s weight-in is a little kinder.
Michael Phelps, I love you

Wow. What an inspiration, the most decorated Olympian in history. That is so hot! Honestly, part of my obsession with this guy might have something to do with the fact that he may look a tad bit like my first love. Same goofy face.
I took my run tonight, and while normally, lately, I have been fatiguing after about 2.5 miles. After thinking about the athletes in Beijing, especially Mr. Phelps, I found the energy to go another two laps to make it a round three miles, with a full out sprint on my last lap; notwithstanding the fact that I was being devoured by mosquitoes, despite a really healthy shower of bug repellent.
To beat the heat, baby’s daddy and I saw Tropic Thunder today. I didn’t laugh quite as much as I had hoped I would. I wouldn’t say it was worth a $9.00 ticket, maybe a matinee price though.
