Marie Antoinette flowering tea

August 14th, 2008

So I am sort of obsessed with this movie and flip the channel whenever I land on it.  I just have to see it through.  I love the colors, the music, the costumes, Rose Byrne as Duchesse de Polignac — everything.  Well, one thing I noticed right away was the scene where Marie Antoinette is meeting with her brother and she is talking about how “divine” this tea is.  Then all of a sudden a flower blooms in the teacup as she is pouring the hot water.  After not very much research at all, I found it.  These teas are hand tied.  They start out looking like a little green bud and then, voila!, a glorious flower blooms right before your eyes.  I would love to surprise a few of my friends with this as a gift.  Teaposy had the coolest website by far.  They sell  clear teapots and big clear tea mugs.  I can’t wait until mine arrives!

That sounds like a fabulous gift! How amazing, that sounds awesome for me to plan for my sister’s wedding as a gift to her bridesmaids. :) I don’t think I’ve ever watched it, but for some reason I think I’ve seen clips of it…sounds like something I’ll have to check out this weekend.
