Miss Firecracker

August 13th, 2008

I file this under “guilty pleasure,” because I don’t think this movie was heralded in the press as “thumbs-up,” or even as a “rent it.”  I love this film and just ordered it off Amazon.  I remember watching this when I was a kid,  and had no clue what it was that I was witnessing.  It must have been a play to begin with, because it has some of the most memorable characters.  It stars Holly Hunter, Mary Steenburgen, Tim Robbins, and Alfre Woodard.  If you ever have a free afternoon late in the summer, you gotta check this one out.

I haven’t seen Mamma Mia. I love ABBA; maybe I should check it out. I just got Miss Firecracker in the mail. I think I am going to have to drink a gin and tonic or have a mint julep while watching this southern gem. On second thought, It’s only 2:00 p.m.; maybe I will just stick with iced tea.
