Morning Chicks!
Uncategorized March 21st, 2009And I mean early morning. It feels as if I have been awake for hours - oh wait, I HAVE been awake for hours. Who needs an alarm clock when they have not one, but two, fuzzy alarm clocks? I don’t even remember when I was last able to sleep in on a Saturday morning. This morning my wake up call was a something purring in my ear and then nibbling on my arm (and no, it wasn’t the DH). So, just to make the cats happy, I’m up.
But I’m not feeding ‘em until I feel like it.
I’m spending the morning looking around for meal ideas, particularly breakfast and lunch ideas. I think I just need a bit of guidance. My goal for this week will be to pack a lunch and take it, because it seems to work when I am able to do that. I guess that means grocery shopping will have to be on the agenda either later today or tomorrow morning. I starting at the WW site, but if any one has any suggestions or other sites they like to use for this kind of thing I’d appreciate the ideas.
Once the DH is up, we’ll get cleaned up and head out of town to visit my Mom. I haven’t seen her since Christmas so we’re going to drive north and take her for lunch. I do call her every week but I’m such a weenie about winter driving that I just can’t manage the drive through the hills to her place in bad weather. She completely understands, but she is still disappointed I don’t come more often.
Not much happening other than that. Frankly, it’s 7:30 and I could already use a nap. Oh, it’s going to be one of those days.

wraps. I live by the wrap!!! La tortillas, a piece of laughing cow cheese, some red pepper sauce or red peppers, sauteed broccoli slaw, cabbage, onions, lettuce.. etc, You can make the sandwich, sans the slow or lettuce and stick them in the freezer. Pop it into your lunch bag when you pack you lunch BEFORE you go to bed the nite b4 and it’ll be fine the next day at lunch. Veggie burger patties in la tortillas as yummy as well, almost anything .. black beans and brown rice.. can ALL be frozen in la tortillas.. just leave the veggies out and take them in a separate container in your bag. Take along some raw or steamed veggies.. I’ve been eating edamame lately. add a piece of fruit or a bowl of berries and you are good to go. Important thing is to pack the lunch bag the night BEFORE.. I am repeating myself but it does matter. Who needs to get up any earlier than they need to just to pack lunch.
My cat was doing the head stomp at 6:45 this morning I mad her pay by kissing her hehehe

I can relate though my 2 alarm clocks aren’t fuzzy; they still are demanding!
Never hurts to grab a couple lean cuisines - those with a salad and/or piece of fruit make a decent lunch, esp when on sale! And esp if you forgot to pack lunch the night before!
I think allrecipes.com has great healthy section. dlife has good lunch recipes too - http://www.dlife.com/diabetes/diabetic-recipes/recipeResults.html?category=Lunch_Snacks diabetic just means healthy and usually lower carbs or whole grains.
Enjoy the trip to your Mom’s!
