End of April Musings

Linville Falls NCWell the last day of April is upon us. This is a photo from our day trip into the Blue Ridge Mountains earlier this month. Weight-wise April has been a bust for me, Maybe retirement agrees too much with me. I am re-committing myself as of today and am

1. Writing down my foods

2. Joined Curves for a one-month trial membership

3. (and the most challenging) watching my weekend food and drink intake

This past weekend, we had another couple over for an end-of-Passover Seder and I made lamb and chicken and we ate lots and lots of food. Then on Sunday there were great goodies at coffee hour at church and then a friend invited us over for spaghetti and meatballs which turned into a lot of other good stuff and after dinner liquors. Needless to say my Monday weigh-in was horrible.

Other news - my youngest aspiring actress (Rachel) was in a great production at her college - they did “Hair” and I rocked to the music and enjoyed seeing her romp around the stage in hippie dress (peasant top and flowing skirt). She looked like she was having a ball. She even came out and dragged me up onto the stage for the finale. She seems to be doing very well this spring and I’m so proud of her. We are having lunch tomorrow. No news from the other DH (Sarah)…but i guess they are holding off on replacing her car for now and are car-pooling to work.

It’s gotten cool again here after a week of June-like bliss. I actually have the woodstove going right now.

So Happy end of April blog mates.

  1. Oh for gawds sake - how did I miss your last blog entry? Good grief about the accident! I’m so glad you are all safe. Sounds like Rachel is seriously doing her thing…how absolutely terrific! Let me know when she heads out to Hollywood, maybe DS & his girlfriend can show her around. (I mean, it sounds like that’s where she’ll be headed before long!)
Oh, the eating will taper off, I’m sure. You’ve just made a major life transition. Once everything settles down, you’ll get a handle on the dieting and such. Let me know how you like Curves - I’ve been thinking about it ever since Tee used to talk about going. Haven’t done anything about it of course, but might if enough people give it good reviews.
Happy end-of-April to you, too, Lyn…we’ve missed you!

  2. Accident???? I missed that too; glad you’re OK. You’ll get back on track soon. Cool here today too; had heat on for an hour or so.

  3. Hey there Lyn, how lovely about Rachel’s musical. I can just imaging how enjoyable that must be. It sounds like you’re living a good life right now, and a few pounds either way is okay. Specially because I think you have it under control. Your dinner with friends sounds so good, too! Love the photo. I’ve always wanted to show Neil the US, and for some reason, I want to take him to the Ozarks - and the Smokey mountains and to see the Missisisippi. ;) Your photo inspired me to remember all that.

  4. Weekends are always hard. I am sorry to hear about your accident. Hope all are ok.

  5. Hey Lyn, just checking in. Where do you be?
