Back from the Sunny South

Whew!  I calculated that we drove about 1800 miles over the past 10 days.  Good to be home, and it’s so nice and warm here too.  I rememeber the day we came home from last year’s April break it snowed!  This year it has been perfect.

The trip was fine except for a nearly tragic accident on our last day in NC.  My DD was driving her car and I was in the passenger seat and my DH asleep in the back.  We were on our way home from “Whole Foods” in Winston-Salem where we had been discussing catering for the wedding.  We were just exiting one highway to another when we noticed a car pulled off the road and a woman sitting high on a bank away from the car.  Both Sarah and I looked over at her to see if she looked ok, and when we looked back to the road a blue van had stopped in our lane!  We were heading right towards them at about 45 miles an hour and could not swerve completerly out of the way and we hit the rear end of the van with the passenger side of her car.  The air bags went off, the side window shattered, and amazingly, the only injury was a cut and bruise to my right arm.  A very nice woman stopped and applied first aid, called 911 and even stayed when the police came.  She even gave us a ride home to Sarah’s apt.  Unfortunatly, her car is probably totaled.  But I thank God no one was hurt.  The people in the blue van never came out of their vehicle and when the “Good Sameratin” went over to ask if they were ok, they didn’t even respond to her.  Very strange.  They must have been pulling over to stop, but did not pull all the way out of the traffic lane.

Anyway, my DH and I played golf three times and I beat him all 3 games.  Yes, he’s still speaking to me too.  The dogwood were in bloom and we went up into the Blue Ridge Mnts to see some wonderful waterfalls.  I will post photos later.

My eating went to hell in hand basket, but I only gained a pound according to my weekly weigh-in last night.  I lead my first TOPs meeting last night and ot went well.  It should keep me inspired.  Just did 35 minutes of walking and 45 minutes of yard work.  Yesterday I swam 33 laps of the Y pool.

Happy Really Truely Spring Fellow Bloggers!
