First Day of Freedom

It feels very strange not ot be at work and to think I won’t be going back. So far I’ve:
…had a protein shake for breakfast…went for coffee with a friend…returned pop bottles
…cleaned the kitchen from top to bottom…made the bed…stacked wood next to the woodstove …played Spyder on the computer….Read my book…Walked to the [...]

Last Day

Well it’s been quite a week.  Lunch out with my collegues on Tuesday, along with a bouquet of flowers.  Cake and punch on Wednesday (so much cake I took one home and put it in the freezer for a party sometime this summer).  Of course I have also been eating the rest of the left-over [...]

Post-Easter

I also posted this photo for my 3fatchicks Golden girls posts.  At least it makes me feel a bit more like spring will actually arrive soon.  Easter was cold – sunny- but cold.  Our little 12-voice choir sang the Halleluiah Chorus from the Messiah – only 4 sopranos and 2 altos and 1 lone tenor.  [...]

Last class

Just taught my last New Employee Safety Class - it’s really hitting home now.  I’m having mixed feelings, but no, don’t worry, I still know it’s the right time to retire.  Mixed feelings are to be expected.  I stayed the same weight at my weekly weigh-in last night.  Oh well.  Not much more to say [...]

Marching on

Will March ever end?  I can’t beleive it’s only the “Ides of March” tomorrow.  I recovered from the flu and am back to work as of Tuesday.  The snow is trying hard to melt, but our driveway still looks like the pitted frozen tundra.
I managed to lose 2 pounds and keep it off this week, [...]

Sicko

I’ve been smote (is that a word?) with the flu. This is the third day. Days 1 and 2 are a blurr of hazy feverish dreams, and achey achey limbs. Coincidentally, I just finished reading a book about the flu epidemic of 1918 called “The Last Town on Earth”, by Thomas Mullen. [...]

Fickle March

Yesterday it got up to 65 degrees.  Of course I was inside at work all day, but the walk to the car and drive home (with the window partway down) was super.  Now it’s back to 30 degees and freezing rain.
On the eating/exercise front…I walked a bit over the weekend, but also ate too damn much.  [...]
