Back Again

november-014.JPGnovember-001.JPGSoo…I’m back at work after my four days off.  That’s me out for a walk yesterday with Len.  We went up to Lake Ontario and hiked a pretty trail.  This was after delivering more phone books.  (The other photo is Len, bagging books) Have I written about this?  My newly retired DH has found a new part time job delivering these house to house.  At first he said his knees hurt too much to do it, but now that I’m helping he keeps taking more routes.  Also more for Rachel.  But I am getting ahead of myself. Thanksgiving arrived cold, wet and sleety and I cooked a small bird.  I feared that Jason (our young choir director) would not make it as the sleet turned to snow, but he did come.  We had a nice woodstove fire going, but conversation tended to lag a bit.  I didn’t realize he was so young.  He’s almost 20 and in his last year at Eastman – I mean he’ 5 yeas younger than my youngest DD, Rachel.  No wonder he declined the cocktail and drank cider. But he really appreciated coming over and told us all about his very BIG family dinners in VA.  In fact at one point he called home and they passed the phone around to about 20 people there.  My turkey was not totally cooked and I swear that the thermometer said it was done after I poked it in all of the right places.  Oh well, we carved off the done parts and stuck it back in the oven.  I did the stuffing outside the bird for the first time, and I agree, that inside the birds it comes out better.  I really missed my girls.  I mean I’m happy that they’re off living their own lives, but hell, I miss them! Friday we delivered more phone books..(yes I am such a marter), and then went to the gym to work off some of the calories from T-day.  We spent the rest of the weekend watching the last few episodes of “The Sopranos” (these finally came form Netflix).  Don’t know why I become so fascinated with that show.  I mean they do such horrible things to each other…but  just love Tony S. and his psychological struggles. We ate Thanksgiving dinner again on Friday and Saturday night and then I made turkey tetrizinni and turkey soup (which I just had for lunch).  So that’s it.  Now on to Christmas.  I’m not ready and I’m really not in the mood yet.  Anyone else feel apathetic about the holiday?  Oh well, maybe as time moves on I’ll be more into it.

  1. I feel apprehensive about the Christmas season. That’s apathy + anxiety.
Agree about the stuffing tasting better when it’s roasted in the bird.
I also loved the Sopranos. I almost never watch gory, murder stuff, either. But this hooked me in from day one. One Sunday, after watching 4 episodes the previous night, the family was just coming back from some outing. One of my girls was about to go through the front door ahead of me and she had dirty boots on. “Don’t forget to wipe your feet!”…”Don’t forget to….”, “Wipe your feet!”, “Hey! Wipe your feet!” (you get the picture, said it 6x) (She didn’t). “JE*US F***ING C***ST! Why didn’t you WIPE YOUR FEET!” The whole family just froze (I don’t swear very often). That’s when you know you’ve watched too many Sopranos episodes at once.
Please tell me: How do you post your photos? I cut and paste a link from webshots, but I see you and ellabella have made a file. This has not worked for me, must be doing something wrong….incompetent IT specialist that I am.
Your Turkey day sounds pleasant, but I would have missed my girls, too. Choir director is younger than my middle daughter, why, he’s just a babe, still.

  2. PS…As always, lovely photos!!!!

  3. I can see how those four letter adjetives would make their way into your vocabulary fter 4 episodes worth! Too funny. To upload photos I go to the upload photos section on the “write” page and browes until I find the photo on my computer. Then I “open” hit “upload” and then sent to editor. I don’t know how to do it your way either. Thanks for you comments as always.

Hey we’re doing an Advent sevice of Lessons and Carols this Sunday. Having a combined choir so it should be good. Maybe it will get me more “in the mood”. Have you sung anything by Jonh Rutter? He’s by far my favorite sacred composer.

  5. Soprano addict here too and not my usual fare; I even loved the theme music. Great pictures!!

  6. Yep.. great pictures as always.

I now need to try out the Sporanos. I gave it a miss earlier for the same reasons.

  7. Thanks for that photo posting information lynard. I cut and pasted it to my email for later.

Advent breakfast this Sunday - don’t know what’s on the music menu tho. I will ask a fellow choir member who knows all the composers if we’ve sung Jonh Rutter….his name sounds familiar.

Did you ever make an Advent wreath with candles? We did that two years ago with the kids after Sunday school and they were so easy and came out so pretty. That got ME into the mood!

Bye for now - RubyJean, Queen of Cussing and Mean

  8. Yes…we made Advent wreaths a few years ago. I still have mine somewhere.

  9. Thank you so much for your lovely encouraging comments.

By the way, your mom is awesome! Well, I guess you know it. But to be able to fly from that phobia would take some courage. IT must have painful for you to go through all that.
