Commitment and Balance for A Healthy Future

After being in the program for 10 months I have learned several things. Among them is the importance of your commitment to achieving your goal. Always aim for it. Put that goal above all others. If you do, the other things in life will automatically fall into place.

Once you start to see that you are making headway, you feel wonderful. My commitment to see this weight all gone consumes me. I have dieted in the past but never with the passion I have this time. I am so committed to changing my life, there is no looking back. I am fighting for my life. There is no time to waste. I was 55 yesterday.

One of the other things I have learned is balance. Not just a balanced diet but having everything in balance. The weight will not just fly off with food control. It will slowly come off but it takes a balance of diet and movement to make it leave. Ease into the movement slowly. You can’t be sitting around for 4 years then get up and walk a 5 K.  Walk for 15 minutes then increase it little by little each day. Eventually you will be running and not even know it.

Balance also means doing everything in moderation. Eating, pc usage, tv watching, playing couch potato. I have cut those activities down to a minimum. When I do, I have more time for the active projects I should be doing.

We may never bring complete harmony to our lives. Committing to a healthy lifestyle and putting everything in balance in your life will help get you past some of the lousy times. I know my life is looking up these days.
