So for the last 3 weeks I haven’t lost a single thing… 207.4, 207.4, 207.7 it’s all very frustrating, especially as I’ve been doing more exercise; going to the gym 4+ times a week, doing taekwondo twice a week and also being perpetually late for seminars and thus having to power walk for 15 mins to get there on time!

I’ve been going with the “keep doing what you have been doing you’ll get over it” but so far no luck. Also slightly annoyed as I’ve been trying to improve my running, however start of last week started to get shin splints so had to put that on hold

Oh well.

Started to try and drink green tea again. I’m liking the brand I have on the go at the moment…

Yeah, I thought new scales would be a nice thing. They’d be pretty and shiny and just generally lovely.

My beautiful, Evil scales of Doom

That is not the case when you discover that your old scales are out by possibly as much as 1/2 a stone…. that means I’m about 7lbs heavier than I thought I was. My BMI is still above 30! The sky has fallen and an apocalypse is upon us! Well, maybe not that last one, but that’s certainly how I feel about this phenomenon.

So now I’m just about to go for a run as I suddenly have approximately another 7lbs to get to my next mini goal, which was why I brought new scales in the first place, as a reward for getting a BMI below 30, *sigh*. On the plus side I have new exercise trousers, size 16, that are cut off at the knee - now I’m not claiming they’re a perfect fit, but this way they will hopefully fit for longer :D. Very sporty looking, that’s me

So. Long time, no blog. No excuse, fortunately though just because I stopped blogging doesn’t mean I’ve stopped exercising and loosing weight

According to the NHS BMI calculator I have just dropped from being obese to only overweight with a BMI of 29.9 This is all dependent on my height however - if I’m one cm shorter than I think I am then my BMI is 30.1

Anyway I currently weigh…

211.4lbs

That’s a 26.6 lb loss since May 30th Happy happy happy me.

I’ve dropped one and a half to 2 sizes on my bottom half, so I’m currently wearing size 18 (UK) jeans, and I’m down to 16/18 on my top half. I don’t think I’ve worn a size 16 since I was 16 so I’m rather pleased.

Next week I’m going to be heading off to Uni up near Newcastle. I have been reliably informed that it snows fairly regularly up there, a change from the annual single snowfall what occurs where I live currently. Fortunately even if it’s cold out there’s a gym in my college grounds so there’s no excuse not carry on as I have been. Winter is always the worst time for doing exercise as it’s cold, and you have to change clothes a lot, and wear layers, and shower which means you’re all damp twice a day which is simply uncivilised, but I will persevere!

…. so I thought I would make a list of all the places I want to be able to shop, that I can’t currently because a. they don’t do my size and b. because as none of the clothes fit me I feel self-concious going in to buy accessories which are none size specific.

For that matter, talking about things that don’t currently fit, I want to wear rings! My fingers have unsightly bulges when I try on rings currently so I never do, but I want to!

Oh and chokers, I want the option of wearing chokers!

Sadly even with weight loss I think the breadth of my hands are still going to curtail the number of bangles I can wear. I can usually fit only one in 8 or so that I try one

Anyway back to the completely vacuous list of shops I want to be able to by clothes from:

AllSaints - I didn’t even know about this shop until last Christmas, but wow the anguish I felt knowing they didn’t do my size… they’re almost architectural in design, with these amazing folds and gathers and pleats… I love, love, love their clothes.

Top Shop - I want to buy the clothes, not just the shoes (although, I do love the shoes!)

Monsoon Fusion - Although I can shop in monsoon (50:50 chance of finding my size) the fusion label only goes up to 14-16, which is very very frustrating as I usually see one or two items that are really, really nice!

Zara - They do some nicely tailored clothing at reasonable prices (well, at least before the recession hit)

H&M - currently it’s a rare occurrence that items fit. They do have a section for ‘larger ladies’ but the clothes are just foul. The only use I have for that section is to buy clothing to exercise in.

Urban Outfitters - No chance, with them going up to a ungenerous Large size. I particularly like there knitwear section with the long, light, cardigans.

Okay, I think for the moment I’ve purged my desires, but this list has certainly reminded me of one of the many facets of reason have for loosing weight.

I’ve started attending the ‘early risers’ swimming at my local pool and I’m working on getting my lengths in. When I was at school I was on the swimming team, even though I wasn’t at all skinny (this might explain why our swimming teams wasn’t so great…) however I was quite able to do 100 lengths in 1 hours, now our school pool was only 20m long so that = 2000m. The pool I’m going to is the more classic 25m, so to do the same distance will be 80 lengths. My starting number of lengths is 50, which I’m fairly satisfied with, especially as I only swam for 40-45mins. I can’t foresee any problem with adding an extra 5 lengths per session, if not more. Ideally I’d like to improve on 2000m I used to do in school.

So I’m going to keep log of how many lengths I do per session. I’m aiming to go 3 times a week, so in theory I should be swimming 80 lengths in…. 3 weeks time, which will be Friday the 24th of July.

Oh how fun, I’ve never set myself an exercise goal before!

I think I’ll start a new page to record my progress.

Secretly I’m aiming to a 100 lengths but I thought I would start small

I’m meant to be seeing my PT guy today and he works me hard so although I’m starting to get into the habit of doing to bouts of exercise a day I don’t want to be exhausted in 4 hours time and not fully benefit from this session.

I’m trying to think what sort of exercise I could do that won’t be too energy draining… but surely thats the point of exercise? Yoga maybe… or one of those quick 20min sessions on a DVD… I would say a brisk walk, but we’re in what amounts to a heat wave in the UK, so I hardly want to step outside for a walk in the midday sun!

My brother has friends over this weekend, which was nice as they got my mind off things. However this did curtail my doing exercise on Saturday. By Sunday the guilt had built up a enough that I pulled myself away from socialising for an hour or two and did an exercise video, which wasn’t difficult by any means but just pushed me enough to get me sweating without exhausting myself.

Without Jessie I’m loosing a guaranteed 40+ minutes of exercise a day because I really can’t face walking around the surrounding area without my little black dog. I’d probably spend half my time choking down tears as everywhere will remind me of her. Case in point - I am now avoiding the village shop, as whenever we popped up there to get something Jessie went with us. Somehow (in retrospect I can’t believe me managed to train her to so this) she would patiently lie down and wait just outside the door for us to come out (getting in everyone’s way, but then she looked so cute no one minded :D).

So because of the no walking currently I’ve also started going to my local swimming pool - Today was the first time and I went with the early riser session although by habit I am not an early riser, I thought that would be good for me also. So I did 45mins in the pool (in the fast lane - yay, I still have a good technique!) came home had breakfast…. and then fell asleep for 2 and 1/2 hours. Whoops! With swimming, because you don’t get so hot as the water cools you, I find I accidently push myself quite hard. This, I imagin, is all to the good except that: 1. I fall asleep at the drop of a hat and 2. my muscles now ache! Maybe next time I should try and get more than 6 hours sleep before getting up to go swimming then I won’t be facing No.1
