Scatter Brained….
October 23rd, 2009
I have so much to say, yet feel so scattered today…..maybe it was the second cup of coffee I had!
First off….day two went well. Eating was right on track. I think I fell one point short of my goal…but went over one point on day one….so I think it will be fine. I know you have to eat ALL of the points. Today I will shoot for perfection. :) I have decided to take all the lunch and dinner ideas I come up with and put them all on index cards with the points all written out. I know, I know, how very much important planning is to success…yet there are times I am either too busy, or simply just do not feel like planning. Maybe this will help to keep me on track. Even if the collection isn’t that large, in the times like I previously described….I can go into auto mode and just choose something AND stay on track. So far, I have cataloged my wrap and the salad I plan on having today for lunch. ( turkey, bacon, avacado salad ) I would have made it into a wrap, but then it came out to be too many points for one meal. I can have this along with some of the 0 pt soup for 6 pts.
DS brace application went fine yesterday. We stopped and got a smoothie afterward for a sort of “being brave” reward. I hadn’t really prepared ahead of time…but tried to make the best choice. First off, I choose the jr size. Second, I choose one with ingredients that seemed to be the best choices. When I got home, I referenced DWLZ ( thanks Laura!) and it was just fine. After we got smoothies….we stopped in at Target for a few things and some “soft” foods for ds. When I got home, I put a turkey breast roast in the oven and some sweet potatoes. That was dinner with some broccoli. DS, being my ubber health conscious child, was upset because he couldn’t eat the vegetable…LOL Any other kid, would have been happy to have the excuse NOT to eat their vegetables….so he suggested I puree his broccoli. His brother laughed…I have to admit….it was pretty funny that a 12 year old wanted broccoli so bad, he would eat it pureed. So I told him I would, got out the food processor and made puree for him. He ate it. LOL So I guess, kids really do follow your example with good eating….he couldn’t go a night without a veggie for dinner. Hurray for that! Today for lunch, I packed him mac and cheese, and threw the rest of the finely chopped up broccoli inside of it, and put it in a thermos for him. Also packed him a banana and a pudding. He should be happy. LOL
Peeking on the scale this morning….I am down 5 pounds from Tuesday nights WI. But this is the morning. So I am certain I will be down SOMETHING come Tuesday. TOM is due on Sunday.
I didn’t get a chance to get any real exercise in yesterday. Shooting for a wATP video this morning. Raining outside. I do need to get to the store to get a few things I forgot yesterday, and some pumpkins for the porch. The boys will be disappointed if there are no pumpkins to carve. Me….I am not so much into decorating for the holidays…I mean, I like how it looks, I just don’t want to have to be the one to drag it all out and do it. I think I am just being lazy.
Make it a great weekend all! This will be my biggest test yet…to stay the course over the weekend. I have only used ONE flex point though, so I have a little bit of freedom. I will need to be firm in choosing where we eat out at so I can do some research before we go. I need to register online with WW today some time also.

Haha what a great kid… I definitely wasn’t begging for broccoli at his age! You can TOTALLY own this weekend! I agree planning is the key to success, sometimes it’s just so much easier to not have to do any guess work about the calorie content (or in your case, points value). It takes a lot of the worry and stress out of it!

Your son’s love for vegetables is very impressive! Hmm… I did WW for like 6 months, and I used to have little point guide I made adn carried in my purse. Its had a bunch of chains in the area on it, so if someone said “let’s go out to lunch!” I was prepared! I went back to calories counting, so I now have little calorie guides
Congrats on the 5 lbs!

I dont think its lazy. If everyone else wants those things out, They should help or do it themselves entirely. Not your job to do everything! You aren’t their servant.. you are their Mom and THEY are members of the household, not guests
Enjoy the weekend!

Applause to DS for eating his veggies and to you for being that good veggie-eating role model.
Agree with Linda - make the decorating a family thing so you don’t have to do it all yourself.
Have a great weekend.

So neat about your son and the broccoli. Haha..
I like your idea of writing index cards. I just learned that the act of writing solidifies the ideas in our memories, long term. I’ve been listening to psychology audios from library again. I swear by them! LOL
Congrats on losing the 5. That’s wonderful Renee!
And yes, I would LOVE to have your apple pie recipe. I still have apples.
I still have time to hunt down your magazine, right? I’m going to Fleet Farm today to check on it. …healthy cooking edition: oct/nov pg 64. I bet I could order it online–my sewing magazine back issues can be ordered online.
Of course I will let you know if I find it.
Have a wonderful weekend!
