Chasing away Chubby

Twas the Day before the day before Xmas…

and all through the house,

Mom (that’s me) was running

in sweat she was doused.

Ensuring that all was ready to go

before the children heard

Santa’s first Ho! Ho! HO!

The stockings were hung

in the doorway with care

Because the trailer they lived in

 had no chimney to spare

and Mom was under the tree

 diggin out gifts

and sorting and counting them

so no one was miffed…

When then she discovered

She was a gift short

So she dashed to her bedroom

leaving them to hold down the fort

Where she dug through

the piles looking for the lost gift

and finally realized

 she would have to get a lift

So to the Suzuki she jumped

to the kids gave a whistle

and away she drove off like

like a patriot missile

And I heard her exclaim as

she drove out of sight!

I’m off to Wal-mart tonight!
