3/9/09 Just another Monday…

Bleh..this weekend went by too fast…it always does when the weather is nice. It was in the high 60’s and even 70’s here I am so ready for nice weather ALL the time! I am ready for outings to the zoo and botanical gardens and all the other great places around here. Of course, this also means that I need to really start ramping up and doing some serious working out. The thought of chasing all 3 kids around any of those places by myself is about to make me collapse from exhaustion. I really don’t think I could do it at this point, and I am not about to let my summer pass me by. Think about it, in just about 3 months, it will officially be summer ladies!!!

So, weekend wrap-up…Saturday I did go to Kidsmania and got a few things for Rhianna. I only spent about $30 but I think I got quite a few cute things. Some for summer and some for hopefully fall. I try not to go too far out in sizing because I just never know what my kids will be wearing at any given time. Like Caden, my oldest DS..back in December I bought him some new shirts..size 14/16. Now, not even mid-march, and he nees at least a 16/18 or more likely a 18/20..the other ones I just bought are way too short! Went out to lunch with a friend afterwards..I hadn’t really seen her in a while so it was good to catch up with her.

Sunday I ran a few errands, mainly to get my CVS and Walgreens deals. Came home and DH finally finally FINALLY started on the girl’s room! It will still be a while before we get it done, but it is a load off my shoulders that it’s at least started. Now I just have to not let it stall.

Today I have already taken Caden to the dentist to get his 3 cavities filled, and now I am home. I am going to go through the sale ads and make a grocery list and menu for the week. I am trying to find new recipes that I can try a couple each week because I am SO burned out on the same ol’ same ol’. So far I have tried a Creamy Chicken with bacon and tomatoes, and a Sauteed Worchestirshire chicken. Tonight we are having something with pork chops..possibly Honey-Garlic marinated? Not sure yet, and I’m trying to not buy a ton of stuff this week so I’ll have to make do.

Not much else going on right now..if DH winds up not going out with his friend tonight then I will be going to a Relay for Life meeting…and that is about it! I am off to try and get a few things done and then hopefully…a NAP!

3/8/09 Horrified…

It is all over the news here in the St. Louis area..earlier this morning, a gunman walked into the First Baptist Church in Maryville and opened fire on the pastor, who was killed. A couple of others were injured, apparently fairly badly (though not sure if the injuries are life threatening) and they were flown by helicopter to a hospital in St. Louis. At some point the gunman turned a knife on himself, and is in surgery and listed as in serious condition. I am just so horrified and saddened by this..at this point the police have no motive and the gunman has no prior convictions of any kind. And this is just not an area that you would think of something like this happening. I have friends and their families who attend this church but as far as I can tell none of them were there when this happened. Prayers are going out for all those affected by today’s tragedy!

I am soooo glad it is Friday!!! This has been a very long week. I did go to the doctor yesterday and am on yet another round of antibiotics and a nasal decongestant. So, I am hopeful that I will feel better soon. She said if I am not any better in a week to call and she will want to do a CAT scan to check my sinuses. Bleh.

DH has to work overnight tonight..another DRE that he does once a month. Usually they are during the day but occasionally they will do one overnight, like tonight. It’s all good..I am planning on making homemade pizza and ice cream sundaes and having a movie night with the kids. I rented Beverly Hills Chihuahua lol…oh, and City of Ember.

Went out for a bit this morning to clean out and wash my car while DH was still home, and to rent movies. I was so hungry, because I didn’t get a chance to eat breakfast this morning, and I almost stopped and went through a drive through, but I am proud to say I talked myself out of it. I came home instead and made some frozen teriyaki marinated fish filets that I have been wanting to try instead. They were pretty salty, but I’m sure calorie wise they were a much better choice than anyplace I could have gone.

Plans for this weekend are to hopefully switch rooms with the boys…Rhianna’s room, when finished will be next to theirs, and I would rather have our room next to her, so we need to get them switched ASAP. Also, tomorrow is Kidsmania at the local high school. Basically it is something they do once a year where it is like a giant indoor yardsale, but it is all kids stuff…clothes, toys, furniture, etc. Hoping to score some good deals for DD, and possibly youngest DS although that is iffy. Older boys stuff is always hard to find because they are so rough on clothes that they rarely make it to yard sale quality lol. Oh, and that reminds me..I NEED to go out this weekend and look for short sleeved shirts for oldest son..he is only 8 but he needs an 18/20 in shirts…the 14/16s that he has are so short on him that it is ridiculous.

The weather today is GORGEOUS, so I am going to go enjoy it! Have a great weekend everyone!

Cranky and overwhelmed

This is just one of those days where I want to crawl under the covers and go back to bed. I have been dealing with what I am assuming is fluid in my ears from a sinus infection for a couple of weeks now. I did call my awhile back and got a prescription for a zpac, which helped with the sinus infection but not my ears. And I have had sick kids at home pretty much for the whole past 2 weeks so every time I had a drs appointment scheduled I have had to cancel it. I am hoping to get in tomorrow while DH is home during the day so that I don’t have to drag my almost 2 year old along. I am just wiped out and the fact that I can’t hear anything is really making me cranky. I am also in a bad mood because I am at my wits end with my youngest son. I hate to say it but he is L-A-Z-Y! He is only 5, but he just flat out refuses to do anything..I have been getting notes sent home from his kindergarten teacher saying that he has been playing instead of working/listening/etc., and not getting his work done. In the mornings, he almost always comes within a couple of minutes of missing the bus because he won’t get dressed. He has missed breakfast the last 3 days because the rule here is that you have to be dressed before you eat..he is such a slow eater that if I gave him half a bagel, he’d still be “eating” it an hour later =\ His excuses are always that someone is “distracting” him (doesn’t even matter if they are not even in the same room)…it is just that, an excuse. Like when I tell him to get dressed in the morning, it’s always “I can’t, it’s too hard, so and so is distracting me” etc etc etc..We have tried bribing him with special things, taking things away from him and lastly, spanking (which for me is a very last resort). NOTHING seems to be sinking in with him. And I am just at a loss as to what to do. It doesn’t help that DH has this whole “thing” against the school district (well, really any school, but hell if I am going to homeschool). So he refuses to help me deal with pretty much anything regarding school (maybe DS is seeing it as a joke because we are not showing a united front?), and lately DH has been acting like a kid himself. He basically comes home and sits in front of the computer all night (or day if it is the weekend) and that is it. I am just so overwhelmed and crabby and I am SO ready to have a huge temper tantrum of my own!
