I’m trying to eat good for me foods, minimally processed. Nutrient rich. I snack a lot. I must have my coffee, I usually only have 2 cups though. I must have my chocolate, it helps me control binges. I’m also on a budget of about $100 per week, family of 4.

Critique please. What can I be doing better?

    My suggestions.

Ditch the sugar in your coffee and try Truvia or Stevia in the raw. Ditch the creamer. Try unsweetened Almond Milk or Vanilla Almond Milk for a few more calories. If you want a nice satisfying flavor and a 1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice to your coffee. Make sure your tortilla doesn’t have sugar or corn syrup in it. Ditch the cheese.

Trade Greek yogurt for anything you use Sour Cream for. You will never miss the sour cream. A serving of beans/grains is 1/2 cup.

Add 1/2 cup Quinoa, Farro or Brown Rice to dinner. You will feel more satisfied. Marinate your chicken in a clean marinade or just season with garlic powder, sea salt and pepper and get rid of the cheese. I have a great Cuban Chicken recipe posted on my blog.

Instead of almost 900 calories of mindless snacks that are not filling you up (or you wouldn’t be snacking so much) why not create 2 more small meals of aprox 300-350 calories and eat every 3 hours?

Curious as to where are you getting an alotted 2472 calories a day from as that is what an average man who exercises almost 60 minutes daily should eat per day to maintain his weight?

hi again. You ask for critique and in my gentle, humble way, I notice there is a lot of “fat” foods in this list. Cheese and sour cream are the worst foods to be eating when trying to lose weight. Nothing wrong with chocolate… but dark chocolate (about 70% cocoa or higher) is best. If you can do without the fatty dairy, that would be my suggestion. Or to cut out at least 2 of those from your daily intake and only have it once a day. If you track your total daily fats, I can guess it’d be fairly high. And unless you make your own cheese, that is highly processed, chemically laden food.

Well, according to several BMR calculators, and my level of activity, this the number of calories that I should eat. I exercise as well, but I do not eat back my calories. I usually vary in-between 1600-2000 though. Eating more than that is often a challenge.

I can sub the sour cream. I don’t use it daily. Just as a treat maybe a couple of times a month.

Cheese. I love cheese. Cheese is my sub for high calorie homemade ranch dressing. I do not use any dressing unless it’s homemade ranch. I’m a ranch snob. Seriously. But I’ll try a couple of days without the cheese.

I do try to buy the “cleanest” products available within my budget. No floppy sandwich cheese, no white, or filled with corn syrup tortillas. I do eat dark chocolate only.

I’ll try tracking my daily fats, and see what I come up with.

But often my mindless snacking isn’t very mindless. I work in retail management, and typically I can only “grab and go” when unless I’m on my lunch break, which I rarely have time to take. Also note, my typical day starts 6am, and I finally get home at 10pm. Bed usually isn’t until 12am.
