I had to laugh at all my gung ho-ness from yesterday. After using all yesterday’s points, I had two pb & j sandwiches and I did not get up and exercise this morning! =) Oh, well: was OP (on point) today and have things set up to exercise tomorrow morning. As Scarlett would say, tomorrow is another day. How’s it going for you guys?
It’s been a while since I’ve been here. I dropped out of the exercise/healthy eating plan for the past two months due to illness. On November 13, I had my appendix removed and on December 14, after being admitted through the ER w/pancreatitis, I had my gall bladder removed. So, recovery meant no exercise for a while. I have finally been released from the doctor and can get back to exercising. YEAH! So, new year; new plans. Here’s my plan for becoming a healthy hen in 2010.
The good thing about being down for the last couple months is that it will be like starting over again and the first copule weeks should show a good weight loss! Hey, gotta find the silver lining wherever you can.
Here’s my plan. First, lots of prayer. Second, lots of accountability! I am going to be brutally honest about how I’m doing and where I am. I hope you feel safe enough to do the same with me. If not, I still want you guys to hold me to it, please.
Beginning weight: 232.4
Short term goal: to lose 35 lbs by 07/01/2010. (that’s 1.4 lbs a week)
Long term goal: to reach weight of 180 by 10/01/2010 (I be looking good at sister’s weekend this year!)
The plan to accomplish these goals: Weight watchers.
Keep a food journal. Exercise 30 minutes 4-6 times a week. Pray a LOT! Prepare healthy snacks for work, including snack size servings of chocolate b/c sometimes an apple just doesn’t cut it. =) Blog at least once a week.
Rewards:
223 lbs-Sweating to the Oldies collection on DVD; new weights
209 lbs-buy Mary Kay makeup and face wash (haven’t used it in years and it’s the best for me skin).
194 lbs-Wii & Wii fit doo dads.
180 lbs-right hand ring.
Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! Looking forward to God doing great things in 2010.
Woo-Hoo! Down 2.8 for a total of (drum roll please) 28.4 pounds gone. YEAH. More later. Have a blessed day and choose joy!
Wow! I haven’t been on here since March! Ugh. I am truly sorry. I have missed you guys and have been thinking of you and praying for you even if I wasn’t writing to you.
Much has happened on my end. In my last post, I updated about using birth control to combat some endometriosis and cysts. Turns out I’m not taking the pills after all. I truly believe that God has healed me of these issues. A couple of ladies at church prayed for healing and I have been pain free for months! Oh, I have the normal PMS stuff: cravings, bloating, irritability but that’s it. It feels good to be human again.
I went to the doctor in June and requested some help with weight loss issues. She put me on an appetite suppression. I’ve been taking that, praying, doing WW, praying and exercising since the first of June and have lost a little over 25 pounds! (did I mention I’ve been praying- a lot!). My hubby has joined me on WW and has lost over 30 pounds. I’m so proud of him. It’s so much easier when you do it together and have that built in support system.
The best thing about all this is that the last time I went to my doctor for my weigh-in and blood pressure check, my BP was 110/85! Woo-hoo. I’m thrilled, thrilled, thrilled. Doc says that if BP is that good next month, she will cut my BP meds in 1/2 and eventually we’ll try not taking it at all. I know I might still have to b/c it does run in my family. BUT if I have to take it it’s not going to be b/c I’m overweight and lazy!
Much going on in other places. My sister and I went to Monterey, CA in July to see my daughter who is in the Navy. We had a great time! It was my sister’s first time flying and she got blessed enough to be able to spend the night at the Denver airport! Daughter is doing well and loves what she’s doing. Youngest daughter started her senior year of high school last week! We’re researching some mission organizations for her to do an internship after graduation. Iam so proud of both my girls.
I’m going to sign off for now. I need to cook dinner (chicken stir fry) and get ready for yoga. My daughter and I are going together to the Y. I love doing that with her and it’s so relaxing. Plus, I think I’m a little taller when I come out of class!
I’ll read and catch up on everyone later. God bless!
I went to the doctor in Bowling Green today. I gotta say that I really like him. He’s very to the point, listens well and realizes that the decisions concerning my body should be made by me. He went over all my options, from least invasive to most invasive and left me to make the decision. I was the one who decided against surgery after I learned that the surgery would not help the biggest problem at all; it would help one of the lesser problems but not the major one. So, no surgery for now at least. I’m very grateful to those “holy spirit” God nudges that we get. When the doc was talking about surgery, it was like I could hear the Lord say, wait-just wait on the surgery. The birth control the doc gave me is a really low dosage and will help improve all the problems I’m having right now. He also gave me three months samples. He said he didn’t want to write the prescription until we were sure this medicine was working and that I liked how it worked. He also made an appointment for this Friday, 03/13/09, for a biopsy consultation. He doesn’t do biopsies but he recommends several doctors who specialize in biopsies. I’m so grateful that the appointment is so quick!
Looks like everything will be on track in a couple months. Surgery may still be an option but it will be far later down the line if these pills work the way the doc thinks they will.
Next on the agenda; getting some motivation! Anyone have some to spare?
I went to WW this morning. I do believe I’m going to like it. I was praying Lord, I need a face; I need to see someone I know. Not only did he answer my request, he doubled it. I had two familiar faces there! Yeah.
I will try to do better about posting. Our computer has been acting up so it’s hit and miss right now.
Our sailor graduates 02/27/09 so we are heading to Ill. on Thursday evening! Yeah. I can hardly wait to get my hands on that girl. She’s doing well: 2nd in command, E-3 already and playing the sax and leading cadence.
Gotta run. I’ll try to touch base with everyone later. Have a great day and be blessed!
I just wanted to pop in and share good news: according to my weigh in this morning, there was no weight gain on my vacation! Woo-hoo!
Today, I hit it hot and heavy again with being on point and exercising. I’ve lost 3.4, I think, and my short term goal was to have 5-10 pounds gone before heading to Great Lakes for Karen’s graduation from boot camp. I’m thinking positively and estimating around 8 pounds gone by then. I know it’s small; but it’s a start and a big step in the right direction.
Hope all is well. Have a great day!
We’re back from Gatlinburg. We had such a great time. A lot of the time was spent just being lazy and being together. We enjoyed ourselves a lot but it was also good to get back home; especially since the bed there was hurting hubby’s back: it was hard as a rock! As a matter of fact, we actually slept in separate beds part of the time we were there. The master bedroom had a king size bed and the second bedroom had two twin size beds and hubby ended up in there for about 4 nights. It was so weird; he’d kiss me good night and then go to the other bedroom! I told him it felt like I should be in a bundle bag or something like they did in the 1800’s when couples were dating. Oh, well; he slept more comfortably and his back felt better when he slept in the other bedroom. Being the ornery person I am, I told my brother that vacation was good except we ended up in different bedrooms by the end of the week. His look was priceless! I straightened it out though and told him what really happened. He smacked me; it was worth it.
We had letters waiting from our recruit when we got home. She sounds like she’s doing better. She’s gotten involved in a Bible study there and has made some friends. She has some responsibilities within her division and she’s playing the saxophone in the band. She’ll be playing at a couple of graduations in addition to playing at her own. Please continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers. We all appreciate it.
This week, it’s going to be just my youngest daughter and myself at home so we’re going to go out to eat and go watch the newest Kate Hudson/Anne Hathaway movie-can’t remember the name. We’re also going to rent Tyler Perry’s (you would not believe how many times I’ve called that beautiful man Steven Tyler! Don’t know why; just happens) newest movie on dvd-the Family that preys and maybe his play marriage counselor. Then, she is going to help me re-dye: yes, you read it right-re-dye my hair. Hubby and I did it in Gatlinburg this week-auburn-and we left it on too long. It’s not too bad but it’s too red for me. I could wear green and pass for a leprechaun! :) So, a nice dark brown-my natural color-is what I HOPE to end up being!
Eating went well. I ate some things that I don’t normally eat but I got my fruit, veggie and water intake and exercised as planned. Tomorrow, it’s back to the straight and narrow.
Hope all is well with everyone. Have a great weekend!
Yeah: we got snow here in Gatlinburg, TN on Sunday and Monday. It’s still hanging around some and I love it. It’s so beautiful. The time share where we’re staying has a creek right behind it and trees and woods all arond it and the snow glistening on it is so beautiful! My winter is complete; I got some snow.
Things are going well. We went to the Dixie Stampede on Sat. 01/17/09 and had a great time. You had to eat with your hands! We were separated into the “south” and the “north” and we had to cheer for our “army” and riders. It’s such a good show and I enjoyed it so much. We were on the “south” side but we lost. :( Oh, well it was fun and the horses that did the tricks and the show were absolutely gorgeous. The mc’s horse was pure white; not a speck of gray for black on it anywhere. It was great fun.
We met our youngest daughter and some of her friends for lunch on Sunday. She was in Gatlinburg as well for a youth convention. It was nice to see her before she went home. She’s spending the rest of the week with her aunt and uncle. I’m sure she’s having a blast.
We watched the inaugaration yesterday; very historic moment. The crowd was unbelievable! We spent the rest of the day yesterday just being lazy since the roads were bad. It was nice.
We head home on Friday. it’s been such a good week. We needed some time just the hubby and me and this was perfect.
Eating has gone well. I’ve eaten some things that I normally don’t eat but I’m also exercising my 3 times for 30 minutes and making sure I get my daily required intake of fruits and veggies. All and all, I feel that I’m doing well.
Hope all is well for everyone. Have a great day!
