That’s way too long. Hope all is well with everyone. I wanted to update everyone on what’s been going on here.
I have been having intense pain and excessive bleeding with my period. I went to the ER on Saturday and the doctor there who was rude and condescending, gave me some meds for the pain and to thin my blood a little. It had been clotty and gloppy. ( I know that’s not a medical term but it’s a good description). His whole attitude was “you’re having trouble with your period; big deal”) I stopped taking them both on Sunday b/c they were making me extremely sick. Monday, I felt better and waited arounduntil 2:20 p.m. to try to get into my OBGYN. I gave up, said phooey on it and left town with DH for our previously scheduled time away for our anniversary. I had two good days; minimal pain and very little bleeding. Intense pain and bleeding started again on Weds. morning.
Yesterday I went to my NEW OBGYN adn they squeezed me in. I really, really liked the doctor. He came in before the exam and just sat and talked to me for a while and listened to what I said. Then he examined me and asked if I’d ever had fibroid tumors in my uterus. I said, nope; cysts on my ovaries and endometriosis but no fibroids. After the exam, he said he doesn’t think that what’s going on is menopause or anything life altering. He does think my endometriosis is flaring up-I agree- and he does think I have fibroid tumors in my uterus. He’s sending me to the hospital on 11/19 for a pelvic ultraround. then back to his office 11/20 to read the ultrasound and decide what the next step will be. I fully expect him to recommend some kind of hysterectomy if I have fibroids due to the fact that I also deal with endometriosis and cysts. If that’s what he recommends, then that’s what I’ll be doing a.s.ap.
I’m pretty tough but these past two weeks just about took me under. I’m still really tired due to the blood loss. doc gave me some medicine to stop this period and iron pills as well as my iron level was 11; 19 is normal and 10 and under is aenemic. I’ve been eating iron rich foods and have, at least temporarily, given up my beloved sweet tea.
Through all this, my blood pressure has been sky high so I’m going to my family doctor tomorrow to see if I need to start taking some meds. I certainly don’t want to go through surgery with high blood pressure. However, I am going to tell doc to do what he wants with a caveat that after I lose some weight we will re-evalute my need for the meds. Usually, if people lose weight, their blood pressure goes down.
So, that’s what’s going on here. Needless to say, I haven’t felt like exercising, even walking, lately. I’m just so stinking tired from the blood loss and low iron. But, I hope to get back to that a.s.a.p. If I’ve learned anything through all this it’s the fact that my weight needs come DOWN. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. It’s greatly appreciated.
Have a great day!

I’m very sorry to hear you’ve been having problems. As someone who has had more than her fair share of GYN procedures and exams this year you have my full sympathy, and I hope you have a clear answer and treatment plan soon.
Thanks for the comment on my blog - helps nudge me in the right direction!
