Just another 3fatchicks.com weblog

Foodwise, I mean. My hubby and I had a great weekend; just hanging out and enjoying each other’s company. However, food choices were not that great. Friday night we were both tired and neither one wanted to cook so, you guessed it,we ordered pizza again. Saturday was pretty good but not so on Sunday.

Sunday one of our “kids” dropped in for a visit. He’s a college junior who basically calls me his other mother. We had soup and sandwiches which was okay but I also went to the store and got ice cream and cookie dough, which was not okay. I justified it by saying that it was for our son before he goes back to college. *sigh* The good thing is that my DH and I both realized what we were doing and talked about how to prevent it. Our plan includes planning our menus from Sat-Friday instead of Sat-Thursday so that there will be a healthy choice here on Friday evenings when everyone’s tired. Also, we’re going to try to do our shopping on Friday evenings so that we have healthy stuff here all weekend.  It’s good we are on the same page with this. Usually, he’s on and I’m off or I’m on and he’s off.

So, there you have it; sucky food choices this weekend which lead to realization of what we were doing wrong and a plan to combat it. Maybe not such a terribly bad weekend after all.

Have a blessed day.

Planning is key. There are some pretty reasonable thin crust frozen pizzas on the market. We usually keep a couple of Dr Oetker pizzas in the freezer for extreme emergencies. They run 200-230 cals for 1/4 pizza. Even half, with a big salad isn’t a huge deal. Thin crust frozen pizzas aren’t as bad as regular ones. They’re also usually lower in calories than regular.

Your plan sounds like a great plan….for you and your hubby and for me and my Hubby! Weekends are rough around here, too. Planning just might make the difference.
