Just another 3fatchicks.com weblog

I considered titling this blog “It’s fun to go to the Y-M-C-A” but decided against it because the point isn’t really about the Y, but about small towns and, well, you know: where everybody knows your name.

One of the things about living in a small town is that everybody does know your name. I went to the Y this morning and when I signed in, Tracy, the girl working the courtesy desk, said. Well, hi; how are you? I haven’t seen you forever. I explained to her that I had been going to the Y in the evenings for a while. We chit chatted for a few minutes about family and life in general and I continued on my way to my 30 minute workout on the elliptical. It was just nice to be greeted in such a way. Certainly made me want to go back. Just one of the perks of a small town. You do know everbody or if you don’t know them directly, you know their parents, children, cousins, aunts and uncles, etc. We know there are problems in our community but are still innocent enough to be shocked by the crimes. And we come together in the hard times. I like our small town. Of course, like anything else there’s a down side: everybody knows your business most of the time. So, if you did something embarrassing and don’t remember it don’t worry; someone else does remember and will be glad to give you the details. :)

Today was a good eating day. Busy, busy, busy at work. I’m tired but looking forward to starting a new Bible study at church tonight. It’s about renewal. Hm….I sense a theme in my life right now. :)

Tomorrow will be a great day. I’m spending the day with my best friend. She and her husband are attending New Tribes Bible Institute for a Bible degree. When they are done, they plan to be in some form of full time ministry. Not sure where or what, but they are willing to do whatever God calls them to do. She goes back to Michigan on Saturday and I will miss her like crazy. So, lots of time together tomorrow. Here is a link to their blog about their school adventures:     http://www.xanga.com/The_Scotts_3

Gotta go grab a (healthy) bite to eat before church. God bless!

I’m glad that you can spend time with your friends — I’m always so blown away with people who can really “tune in” to what God calls them to do. What an inspiration!
