Treadmill=Dreadmill
General November 4th, 2007Ok, strike everything I ever said about wanting to run on a treadmill. I used my free pass to the Y yesterday and that was the most boring experience ever. Granted, each machine had a TV and I thought that was kind of nice, but gah, even “Silence of the Lambs” couldn’t take my mind off the fact that I was running and going no where. I did 2 miles.
The Y is very nice though. Unfortunately, the track goes around the weightlifting area and it’s not at all like I imagined. First, there is no way in hell I’m running around on a track in front of a bunch of big sweaty men. Second, I was expecting a better surface to run on, the ground looked like concrete.
If anything, it would be nice on rainy days and for the pool and classes. Best friend and I are going swimming later on today.
I’ve decided to do this plan instead of the half marathon plan. Besides, there are a lot more 10ks in my area than half marathons. I may tinker around with it though.

I hate gyms. I honestly do not understand why some people prefer to work out there.
I’m trying to find a good machine to use from home as well. A friend of mine has the Treadclimber and it is a nice size for a home. Only a little over 3′ long and not too wide. Gives a great workout. MUCH better than a treadmill. You may want to give it a try.
Good luck to you!! I can’t even imagine running a half marathon, much less training for one. YOU ROCK!

I would not run in front of a bunch of sweaty guys either! I hate treadmills too! I much prefer running outside. i have resigned myself to the fact that I will be running outsode in frigid temps. Good job on your workout!
